Millions of Dead Fish in a Redondo Beach Marina

Boat dwellers in a Redondo Beach Marina were surprised when they found millions of dead fish surrounding their boats.

“What they saw was millions of dead sardines floating to the surface…,” Redondo Beach Police Sgt. Phil Keenan said.

Officials said a lack of oxygen killed the fish because they moved into the harbor to escape a red tide and could not escape due to high winds.

Authorities believe the millions of dead fish will be difficult to clean up.

“Some of them are underneath the water… and they won’t come to the surface for maybe days.” Sgt. Keenan said.
