Battle to Stop Real ID in Virginia Facing Strong Opposition!As you read in last week’s APC Newswire, Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall has introduced HB 1587, courageously working to exempt Virginia from the onerous requirements of the federal Real ID Act of 2005.

Now the battle has been engaged. Pro Real ID forces are trying to stop HB 1587. Your help is needed to save the bill in the Virginia Legislature.

Virginia Delegate Joe May and Delegate Bill Janis support Real ID and want to stop HB 1587 at all costs. Del. May chairs the House Transportation Committee considering Del. Marshall’s bill. Del. Janis has actually gone so far as to submit a redraft of Marshall’s bill – changing the bill’s language to actually implement Real ID in Virginia!

Real ID is a direct frontal attack on all American’s freedoms. Twenty-one other states have taken a stand against the tyranny of Real ID and have passed legislation similar to HB 1587 to refuse state compliance. Now, with your help, we can stop in it Virginia, as well, but we need your vocal assistance right now!

Del. Marshall’s bill, SB 1587, is scheduled for a hearing this coming Thursday, Feb. 5th, commencing at 8:30am eastern time. Virginians, please do all necessary to attend this vital hearing. Arrive a little early so you can join up with other allies. The greater your numbers the stronger your impact!The House Transportation Committee, and Chairman May, need to see and hear your absolute opposition to the schemes of Del. Janis.

Likewise, those of us living in the other states need to step up and help those fighting this act of treason in Virginia, as we have in other states. To date, only 5 of the 50 states have voted to implement the Real ID.This is a major defeat for DHS’ plans to track, and ultimately control, every aspect of your everyday activities, whether banking, working, traveling, or even just associating as a free American. Please help us stop Real ID in one more state!

The American Policy Center is doing everything we can to stop REAL ID. It is not a solution to illegal immigration – as it’s been sold. It is the beginning of the creation of an INTERNATIONAL ID system. It must be stopped in the states.

Please note: It does not matter if you are a resident of Virginia or not. Make the calls. A flood of calls to delegate offices will make a difference. We need to make them feel the heat to preserve American privacy rights. We must make these calls now!
