The Satanist cult that has colonized mankind is meeting this week at Bohemian Grove 80 miles north of San Francisco.

Over 2000 members –  the political, corporate, cultural and military elite of the world — will be gathered for Satanic rituals, possibly including human ritual sacrifice. They have been meeting here since the 1880’s.

According to “Treee,” a young Las Vegas woman who claims to have contacts inside the secretive club, a ritual sacrifice of Mary Magdalene takes place Tuesday July 21; and the ritual sacrifice of Jesus Christ takes place Wednesday, July 22. A human body or effigy is burned in front of an large owl symbolizing Moloch, the pagan Canaanite God. Alex Jones filmed a similar ceremony called “Cremation of Care” July 15, 2000. If having our world leaders belong to a satanic cult weren’t bad enough, the Las Vegas woman says the Illuminati are actually an alien reptilian species that occupies human bodies and feeds off our energy. I find this hard to believe, but then I would also find it hard to believe the world leadership is making sacrifices to owls. So, I listen and reserve judgment.

She says: This reptilian species is called “Sangerians;”  they are a “fourth dimension race” and  make up 3% of the world’s population. She claims to have met “more than one, more than once.” They have three-hearts, shift shapes, are cold blooded, but are developing human feelings from devouring human flesh and blood. “Ten per cent now get their blood from the Red Cross.” Except for sacrifice, their every ritual involves sex. Queen Elizabeth is a leading reptilian. “It all sounds sci-fi and unbelievable,” the woman says. “But everything fits.”

The Las Vegas woman plans to demonstrate outside the gates of Bohemian Grove this week dressed in a luminescent robes. She invites people to join her. She says we must send the Bohos the message that we know who they are. She says humans must open a dialogue with these creatures or else both species are doomed.

SATANISTS AND THEIR PERVERSIONS

There is stronger evidence that the Grove members are Satanists rather than reptilians. Alex Jones points out in his film that their “Cremation of Care” programme actually shows a baby’s body being devoured by the flames. This Youtube photo montage taken from the estate of a BG member leaves little doubt that serious Satanist practices take place.  One of the pictures shows a dead body, presumably a human sacrifice.

As for perversion, let’s start with the trivial. In 1978, the club actually argued in court that it shouldn’t have to hire female staff because members at the Grove “urinate in the open without even the use of rudimentary toilet facilities” and that the presence of females would alter club members’ behavior.”   See Wikipedia entry.

An all-male enclave, Richard Nixon was heard on the Watergate Tapes describing it as “the most faggy goddamn thing you could ever imagine, that San Francisco crowd that goes in there; it’s just terrible! I mean I won’t shake hands with anybody from San Francisco.”

In the Franklin Coverup Scandal of 1989, Paul A. Bonacci claimed that he had been kidnapped and flown to the Grove by Republican leader Lawrence King and was forced into sexual acts with other boys.

In Ch. 18 of The Tranceformation of America, Cathy O’Brien writes” I was programmed and equipped to function in all rooms at Bohemian Grove in order to compromise specific government targets according to their personal perversions. ‘Anything, anytime, anywhere with anyone’ was my mode of operation at the Grove. I do not purport to understand the full function of this political cesspool playground as my perception was limited to my own realm of experience. My perception is that Bohemian Grove serves those ushering in the New World Order through mind control, and consists primarily of the highest Mafia and U.S.  Government officials.

“I do not use the term “highest” loosely, as copious quantibles of drugs were consumed there. Project Monarch Mind-Control slaves were routinely abused there to fulfill the primary purpose of the club: purveying perversion. Bohemian Grove is reportedly intended to be used recreationally, providing a supposedly secure environment for politically affluent individuals to “party” without restraint. The only business conducted there pertained to implementing the New World Order, through the proliferation of mind-control atrocities, giving the place an air of “Masonic Secrecy”. The only room where business discussions were permitted was the small, dark lounge affectionately and appropriately referred to as the Underground.

“My purpose at the Grove was sexual in nature, and therefore my perceptions were limited to a sex slave’s viewpoint. As an effective means of control to ensure undetected proliferation of their perverse indulgences, slaves such as myself were subjected to ritualistic trauma. I knew each breath I took could be my last, as the threat of death lurked in every shadow. Slaves of advancing age or with failing programming were sacrificially murdered “at random” in the wooded grounds of Bohemian Grove, and I felt it was “simply a matter of time until it would be me”. Rituals were held at a giant, concrete owl monument on the banks of, ironically enough, the Russian (rushin’) River. These occultist sex rituals stemmed from the scientific belief that mind-controlled slaves required severe trauma to ensure compartmentalization of the memory, and not from any spiritual motivation.

“My own threat of death was instilled when I witnessed the sacrificial death of a young, dark-haired victim at which time I was instructed to perform sexually “as though my life depended upon it”. I was told, “…the next sacrifice victim could be you. Anytime when you least expect it, the owl will consume you. Prepare yourself, and stay prepared.” Being “prepared” equated to being totally suggestible, i.e., “on my toes” awaiting their command.”

IMPLICATIONS

Sonia Sotomayor is a member of the all-female “Belizean Club” which is the female equivalent of Bohemian Grove. The emerging picture is that the world elite is chosen by virtue of being sexually and morally compromised so they will obey the dictates of Cabalist central bankers who are establishing the New World Order.

I feel sorry for the innocent people who think Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9-11, the media tells the truth and we live in a free country. We live in a world designed and controlled by Satanist central bankers according to the Blueprint of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. We are being harassed by terrorism, war, financial crises and viruses just as the Protocols promised. The purpose is to make us throw up our hands and accept world government, which is a euphemism for banker tyranny. Whether it’s climate change, wars, bank bailouts or “hate laws,”  there is less distinction everyday between the perversity of the central bankers and the actions of our government.

Bohemian Grove is more evidence that our natural leadership has been substituted for satanists and perverts. We cannot take ourselves as long as we allow these impostors to be in control.

The “credit crisis” represents an opportunity to disown the “debt” which was created out thin air, nationalize the central banks, and take control of our own credit. We must ensure that all political campaigns are publicly funded. The media and movie cartels need to be broken up and redistributed.The central bankers and their lackeys must be banished or the human race is doomed to further degradation.

The U.N. has been rocked by scandals involving U.N. “peacekeepers” who sexually abuse women and children, the failure to protect populations in danger of genocide, and financial corruption. It is an anti-American institution founded by a Soviet spy that is currently headed by a Communist Catholic Priest, U.N. General Assembly President Miguel D’Escoto, who recently gave a speech at a U.N. financial conference on the need to protect “Mother Earth.”

So when the leader of 1.2 billion Catholics, Pope Benedict XVI, endorsed a “World Political Authority” in his encyclical Caritas in Veritate, it was big news that could only be understood in the context of the growing power and influence of the U.N. The timing was also significant. The Papal statement was issued just before a meeting of the G-8 nations, including the U.S., Russia and China, and before the Pope’s meeting with President Barack Obama.

Where was the Temple of Herod?

Utah State University anthropologist says Dome of the Rock is not location of Herod’s Temple.

Some time ago a conversation with a colleague about the absence of archaeological information on the Temple Mount or, as it is called in Arabic, the Haram al-Sharif, and the unlikelihood that permission will be granted for a thorough archaeological investigation of the area in the near future led me to wonder whether it might be possible to learn enough from ancient sources to at least make an educated guess about where within the Haram the Jewish Temple is likelihood. My goal was to see if a “virtual archaeology” could be constructed with sufficient detail that one might give good advice about where to begin excavating, were an archaeologist given permission to do so.

One of the first things I discovered was that archaeologists’ speculations about the original site of the Temple were not typically based on the hard evidences that one usually associates with archaeology. Perhaps because of the relative lack of hard, artifactual evidences or perhaps because the topic has strong religious significance even to archaeologists who are interested in biblical times, arguments for various placements of the Temple are often grounded more in symbolism than on pragmatic evidences.

Articles on the topic often rely heavily on judgments such as “The location of the Dome of the Rock, being the highest spot within the Haram, was the most appropriate place for the Jews to have built the Temple of their God” or assumptions such as the idea that the Temple surely must have been built in the middle of the sacred, walled precinct (Solomon’s five hundred cubit, walled square that surrounded the Temple) that surrounded it–the middle assumedly being more appropriate than some less symmetrical placement. But as any anthropologist knows, what seems symbolically “appropriate” in one culture may not be in another, and symbolic ideals frequently take a second seat to practical considerations that must be dealt with when erecting any large piece of architecture. My goal was to avoid such symbolic second guessing about what the Jews of antiquity might or might not have found aesthetically or symbolically appropriate, and to stick to what hard evidence might be found.

To my surprise, I did discover one voice crying in the wilderness of symbolism for a more practical, hard-evidence approach to the question, and I must give him credit at the outset for most of what I will present, since I have only added a bit to the basic arguments that he had already proposed. Tuvia Sagiv is an Israeli architect, and it is perhaps because of his lack of credentials as an archaeologist that his more pragmatically minded approach to the question has failed to reach the venues that are usually read by those interested in biblical archaeology. On the other hand, Mr. Sagiv’s training as an architect predisposed him to look at questions about the placement of the Temple from the practical mind-set that his profession requires. I will present his basic arguments here along with my own, small additions (mainly, point 6, below) which, I believe, strengthens his argument somewhat.

Background

Mount Moriah is actually a north-south trending ridge rather than a mountain peak. It rises from its southern end near the entrance to David’s City just north of the Hinnom Valley and gets progressively higher until it reaches the spot where the Dome of the Rock now stands. The rock that is sheltered by the dome is bedrock that simply rises above the surface about this point. It stands about five feet higher than the surrounding surface. North of this, the ground was relatively level, although it actually dipped slightly before rising again where the Moriah ridge narrows just south of Mount Bezetha.

What people currently think of as the Temple Mount is a roughly rectangular area on the ridge. This rectangular court is bounded by walls that were built in relatively recent times on the ruins of earlier walls. The ruins include both Herodian and Hasmonean masonry.

It is generally recognized that the eastern wall of the current courtyard occupies the same location on which Solomon built a retaining wall to level the area east of the First Temple. This feature is called Solomon’s Porch and included a roofed colonnade. Solomon did not otherwise modify the north-trending ridge of Mount Moriah. Herod extended Solomon’s Porch to the north and south when he “doubled” the size of the Temple Mount. The entrance to Solomon’s Temple Mount courtyards was through gates that rested directly on the ridge itself.

The Hasmoneans made an addition to the south of Solomon’s Porch and created an east-west retaining wall along the southern extremity of their extension to create a larger, level courtyard to the south of the Temple. This retaining wall was higher than the original southern gates (the Hulda Gates), so that they thereafter connected to the floor of the courtyard by underground passages. Herod more than doubled the size of the Temple Mount courtyards by extending the eastern wall again, both to the south and the north, and by adding similar retaining walls on the east and north ends of the rectangle. He built his great Stoa (where the Sanhedrin met and where sacrificial animals were sold–the scene of Jesus’ overturning of the moneychangers’ tables) on his southern extension. Hadrian may have made additions to the walls of the Temple Mount as part of his building program in AD 135+, but the specifics are difficult to document.

What Was Within the Walled Precinct?

The Temple Mount contained more than just the Temple. In Solomon’s day, it already contained several other features: Solomon’s palace (to the south of the Temple), a hall of justice (called the Forest of Lebanon) and other administrative buildings (possibly to the west of the Temple). The northern wall included the Tadi Gate (through which sheep were brought to the Temple), a Prison Gate (which led into a prison), and a defensive tower called Hananeel (at the northwest corner). Just beyond the northern wall outside the northwest corner was a fosse or waterless moat that cut across the ridge at a narrow point. Hananeel Tower and the fosse formed an important military defense structure, since the northern route down the Moriah ridge was the easiest invasion route for foreign armies, which is why the Romans invaded from that point when they took the Temple in AD 70.). Moriah also contained a “high place” where Astoreth had been worshipped from ancient times.

In Herodian times, the site of Ashtereth’s high place was dominated by an  eight-sided tower called Strato’s Tower (the name being a corruption of  Astoreth, which was written as STRT in the unpointed Hebrew of the time). We know from Josephus that Strato’s Tower lay to the north of the Temple and south of Baris. Later, a military fortress and tower, called the Akra, was built to the south of the Temple Mount by Antiochus after he destroyed the walls of  the Temple. The Akra, a military installation, was offensive to the Jews because it afforded a view into the Temple area. It was therefore destroyed by Simon in the later Hasmonean period.

When the First Temple was rebuilt after the Babylonian captivity, Solomon’s palace and the Forest of Lebanon were razed and the ground was leveled where they had stood. The stone was used in rebuilding the Temple and its walls.

From the above, we can see that in Herodian times the Temple Mount had two basic precincts, one sacred (the Temple and its courts) and one secular (the pagan high place of Strato’s Tower and the defensive fortress to its north. The latter occupied the northwest quadrant of the Temple Mount, leaving the sacred area as an irregular shape that occupied the three other quadrants.

The Temple precinct

The Temple area had two major components, the so-called Court of the Gentiles that surrounded it and a sacred platform on which the Temple rested along with the walled Women’s Court, Court of Israel, and Priest’s Court. This Temple precinct was originally 500 cubits square and occupied only part of the Herodian Temple precinct, although it too was missing a notch in its northwestern corner where the pagan site of Asteroth lay. Josephus cites an old prophesy that if the Jews ever “squared the Temple”, it would be destroyed, and he asserts that doing so was the cause of the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. That is, Herod razed Strato’s Tower and the old Baris fortress and built a new Baris (Baris Antonia) on the northeast corner of his enlarged Temple Mount. This made a nice, square sacred area around the Temple platform but violated God’s injunction by incorporating the idolatrous site of pagan worship into its design.

Where Was the Temple?

The Temple was not located on the high spot currently occupied by the Dome of the Rock. The Dome was built on the most imposing location, the situation of the former Strato’s Tower, a pagan place of worship. It incorporated the eight-sided design of Astoreth’s place of worship into its architecture, a feature of the Dome that is unique in Islamic architecture. The actual location of the Temple was to the south of the Dome of the Rock at the approximate location of the Al Kas fountain which is north of the current location of the El Aksa mosque at the south end of the current Temple Mount. This places the Temple directly to the west of the Western Wall (a.k.a. Wailing Wall).

Reasons for This Placement

The evidences for the southern placement are as follows:

(1) Baris Antonia was built to defend Mount Moriah against invasion from the north–the only easy route to the Temple. The east and west slopes were steep and the city lay to the south. The most defensible place for the location of the fortress was just south of the narrow constriction between the ravines that ran into the Kidron Valley on the east and the Valley of the Cheesemakers on the west. In fact, these two ridges were joined at the top by a man-made moat which would have made an attack on the Baris even  more difficult. (The moat was noted in Wilson’s survey of Jerusalem, so its position is known.) This is the arrangement described by Josephus. Had the Temple been located on the Sakhra (the Rock), then there would have been insufficient room for both Strato’s Tower and the Baris to have fit between the Temple and the Moat. The northern placement favored by the Temple Mount Faithful leaves no room for even the defensive tower, Baris, to be situated between the Temple and the fosse.

(2). A Dome of the Rock location for the Temple would have made it impossible to supply running water to the Temple, a necessity for the High Priest’s mikvah and for the cleansing of blood from the Temple platform. According to the Mishnah, the way that blood was washed from the floor of  the Priest’s Court where sacrifices were performed was to open the floodgate of the aqueduct directly into the court . This means that the aqueduct that brought water to the Temple Mount had to have been above the level of the raised floor of the court. In fact, part of the aqueduct is still in existence, and it lies over 20 meters below the level that it would have to have occupied to service a Temple at the level of the Dome of the Rock. The proposed northern placement is also too high to have received water from the aqueduct. In fact, remains of the aqueduct itself show that after entering the Temple Mount across Wilson’s Arch, it turned to the southeast towards the Al Kas fountain and its associated cisterns. The Moriah ridge at this location is low enough that the aqueduct could have served the Temple as described by the Mishnah at this location south of the Dome of the Rock.

(3) Josephus says that the hill to the north of the Temple (Bizita Hill) obscured the view of the Temple from the north. If the Temple had rested on the Sakhra, they it would have been so high that the view from the north would not have been obscured. In fact, it would have been visible from as far away as Ramallah.

(4) According to Josephus, King Herod Agrippa built a dining room in his Hasmonean Palace from which he and his guests could watch the sacrifices at the Altar. That palace was located near the Citadel at the Jaffa Gate on Mount Zion to the west of the Temple Mount, and the Temple itself would have blocked its view of the Azarah if the Temple had sat atop the Dome of the Rock site. No buildings existed in that era that were high enough to have made the view possible. However, a placement of the Temple at theAl Kas fountain location to the south of the Dome, being over 20 meters lower makes a straight-line view of the Azarah possible along a line of site between the Temple and the southern wall of the Temple.

(5) The Mishnah says that the Temple was not at the highest spot, but that it resided “between the shoulders”–that is between the Rock to its north and the small hill on which the Selucid fortress Akra was built to the south of the Temple.

(6) A southern placement with the Holy of Holies just northeast of the Al Kas fountain is the only one that allows there to be an underground cistern under the Laver in which the priests washed their hands and feet each morning and under each of the parts of the Temple in which there was amikvah (with the exception of the mikvah used by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement, which was in a second-floor room and supplied with flowing water from the aqueduct). thereby allowing water to be directly accessible for each of the mikvah sites. No other placement I know of associates water sources with the various mikvahs and the Laver.

(7) After Hadrian destroyed the Temple in AD 135, he built a temple to Jupiter on the site. The standard pattern for such temples, as exemplified at Baalbek, was an entry through an octagonal portico, a plaza with an altar, and the temple proper. The Baalbek temple’s walls surround a double row of pillars. So do the walls of the contemporary El Aksa Mosque on the south end of the modern Temple Mount rectangle. This construction, like the octagonal shape of the Dome of the Rock, is unique within Islamic architecture. If the Baalbek temple plans are superimposed on the Haram with the temple situated where the El Aqsa Mosque is and the octagonal portico where the octagonal Dome of the Rock is situated today, then Herod’s Temple would have been situated within the plaza, under the Roman altar where sacrifices were performed to Jupiter–a perfect way of making the Temple location inaccessible to the Jews. The Mishnah describes the Holy of Holies as having been located where the statue of Hadrian was in the plaza, just west of the altar to Jupiter.

JERUSALEM – High on Mount Sinai, Moses was on psychedelic drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments, an Israeli researcher claimed in a study published this week.

Such mind-altering substances formed an integral part of the religious rites of Israelites in biblical times, Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy.

“As far Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don’t believe, or a legend, which I don’t believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics,” Shanon told Israeli public radio on Tuesday.

Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the “burning bush,” suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances.

“The Bible says people see sounds, and that is a classic phenomenon,” he said citing the example of religious ceremonies in the Amazon in which drugs are used that induce people to “see music.”

He mentioned his own experience when he used ayahuasca, a powerful psychotropic plant, during a religious ceremony in Brazil’s Amazon forest in 1991. “I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations,” Shanon said.

He said the psychedelic effects of ayahuasca were comparable to those produced by concoctions based on bark of the acacia tree, that is frequently mentioned in the Bible. – Sapa-AFP.

On Sept. 11 1857, in Utah Territory, Mormons slaughtered a wagon train with more than 120 California-bound settlers from Arkansas. This became known as the “Mountain Meadows Massacre.”  The motive was the Mormon “religion.”

The wagon train was ambushed by a group of men dressed in clothing of Paiute Indians at a location called “Mountain Meadows.” There was a skirmish with mutual casualties forcing the attacking party to retreat.  The settlers fortified themselves behind their wagons.  It was a standoff.

A couple of days passed and the settlers saw a party of white men approaching and ran out, thinking they were saved.  But it was a trick. These same men had been the attackers dressed as Indians. They disarmed the surprised travelers and proceeded to execute the men, women, and adolescents in cold blood.

Archeological exhumation of the victims in this century revealed most of the victims were killed by close gunshot to the skull. Many were killed by fracturing the skull with stones. 120 men, women and children.  Only 17 were spared: children under 7 years old who were “too young to tell”. These children were given to Mormon families (presumably).

Brigham Young led a church cover-up, saying that the Natives were responsible for the massacre. He wrote that pioneers had earlier caused the death of Natives by giving them poisoned meat, and by poisoning some of their wells.

What was the motive of the Holocaust of Christians at Mountain Meadows Utah?

Mormon ‘Apostle’ George A. Smith was eventually executed in 1877  as the top Mormon ordering the genocide.  Smith didn’t participate in the raid but had met with the raiding party before the massacre.  Smith was a major Mormon and a leader of the ‘Mormon Reformation’ movement of the era. He promoted a theology called ‘Blood Atonement’.

The doctrine is that ‘Apostates’ (non-Mormon Christians) have become so stained with sin that their souls can only be saved by especially brutal murder at the hands of the holy.   This fanaticism motivated the raid under Smith’s order. But I believe this was the version for the lower initiate brutes who carried out the carnage.  I suspect the inner agenda of this doctrine wasn’t ‘atonement’ at all, but an excuse for ritual blood sacrifice to Satan for the capstone of the Mormon hierarchy.  think the massacre was indeed a mass blood sacrifice on the order of the Druid’s harvest ‘wicker man’ mass sacrifices Julius Caesar wrote described in his The Gallic Wars.  I also strongly suspect our 911 mass murder of nearly 3,000 people is in this tradition

Brigham Young has always been implicated, having reiterated this theology during the ‘Reformation’. But he was far enough removed from evidence to have ‘plausible deniability’ and cooperated with Washington by telegram in prosecuting the scapegoats.

A clue that the Federal US Government, the American press and public, and even Mark Twain overlooked was the date – September eleven. The full ritual significance of this particular date to elite Satanist cult at the head of all these satraps of Satanism remains unknown to us.  But circumstantially, the list of ‘coincidental’ mass violent murders on a grand historical scale having occurred on this date is a long one.

One of the sources of the LDS Church’s great wealth was recruiting new members all over America.  Many will remember the sight of two young men dressed in cheap suits riding bicycles, carrying Mormon bibles, and going door to door.

However, these recruiters and the recruited are considered ‘outer temple’ back in Salt Lake headquarters.  Due to this Mormon ‘outreach’ to non-Mormons one-to-one across America for a century, most people know the Mormon bible says that Jesus appeared to the Indians, and an archangel appeared to Joseph Smith when he was a teenager, letting him ‘borrow golden tablets containing amendments to the Gospel of Jesus and the Ten Commandments. Thus, ‘Latter Day Saints’.

But there’s much more, reserved for the Mormon initiate elite. The rest of the teaching that only inner temple ascended Mormons learn, is a tale that God convened a meeting of his archangels and two sons, to determine the improvement of the human race on Earth.  According to this story, Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, each with a God-approved role with humanity.  In the story God thinks Lucifer’s role is more important than Jesus’s talents, so he appoints Lucifer ruler of the world.

Now, in high Mormonism,  God had at one time have been a child, and grew up.  So men, in the image of God,  children of God, can through enlightenment ‘grow up’ and become gods.
They can’t be God of earth, of course, Lucifer has dibs on that.  So Mormons teach that a man’s ascended soul each get’s his own planet, taking with him many wives to populate his new world.

On the ladder of initiation in the Mormon hierarchy members buy these planetary Divine franchises in proportion to the wealth they accumulate and ty the to the LDS coffers in Salt Lake.

More powerful in America than people think.

“It is widely known that Mormons have had a disproportionate representation in the CIA and FBI through the years, and that J. Edgar Hoover started the FBI with Mormon agents. They also have a disproportionate representation in the US Congress – five Mormon senators and 12 representatives – partly because of the concentration of Mormons in the Western US.” ~ Susan Mazur, Bush and the Mormons, 2004.

Something else well known is that the LDS have the most extensive compilation of authenticated genealogies of individuals of all religions and races in the world.  They’re in the business of doing genealogical research for anyone interested in their own family history, Mormon or not. They’re well known for this and regarded as the best, due to their immense genealogical records already collected and housed in Salt Lake.  Their service isn’t cheap, either.

During 1991, woman of a generational Mormon family in Texas who had become a Setian (member of Satanist NSA General Michael Aquino’s then Temple of Set), informed me that the real Mormon interest in collecting genealogies is that they believe they souls of the dead can be ’saved’ in a ritual handing them over to Lucifer, if you have their name and certain information about them.  She said she had taken part in a secret ritual conducted in a cavern inside the mountain over Salt Lake, where the latest names collected from genealogical research are read and ’sacrificed’ to Lucifer.

The church was instituted by God in part to stand as a defensive bulwark to protect against erroneous doctrine and spiritually damaging heresies from contaminating the minds of believers and thus to an extent soften the blow of a continually degrading culture. However, often those in positions of religious leadership are so hopelessly detached that when confronted with warnings as to the spiritual dangers threatening both the individual and society they offer little in the way of a viable response grounded in a Christian worldview and instead prattle on about matters few actually care about at best or at worst condition the average congregant to eventually acquiesce to the expanding technocollectivist agenda. This trend is evidenced in the inordinate emphasis upon COMMUNITY rather than Scripture as the authoritative source of values in an increasing number of ecclesiastical circles.

In my column “Just Because You Don’t Understand Doesn’t Mean Its Not Real: Most Epistemologically Unprepared For Bioenhancement Nightmares”, I went into lengthy detail how the Transhumanist movement presented not only a threat to traditional conceptions of liberty as it simultaneously veered off into either total anarchy or nearly absolute control but also threatened what it means to be a human being itself. As an important message I felt the broader church might be in need of hearing, I decided to post it at a website where pastors, ministers, and Christian researchers of various types could publicize their homiletic endeavors to share with their peers and other interested believers.

Though my essay did not contain a single profanity and was completely nonpartisan as it did not mention a single word about Democrats or Republicans but instead focused on the moral implications of the Transhumanist philosophy, the site administrator responded, “It appears that you have some great points and some powerful truths that perhaps should be considered. However, I am unable to approve it for posting to your contributor page at this time because it is simply not a sermon of a type that would be useful to very many other pastors that use our website.”

Frankly, other than the campaign to remove God and Christ as the basis of our cultural foundation and to forbid the utterance of these holy names so that souls might be damned, what other issue is more relevant to the 21st century pulpit than the efforts to undermine innocent human life and now the very creation as we know it? Furthermore, this simmering contempt for the distinct uniqueness of human life stretches all the way to the highest levels of government, industry, and academia.

Several years ago, I attended a PCA congregation for a while where it seemed week after week, month upon month that the pastor went on and on about the life of David. This series was not from the standpoint of how the strengths and weaknesses of this particular leader might be applied or avoided in the life of the believer as this highly (one might say overly) degreed pastor made it explicitly clear that it was not his place to highlight whatever underlying object lesson might be there in the text but rather to simply to go verse by verse irrespective of whether or not the passage had any actual spiritual significance for the Christian rather than as information provided more as a background setting but nothing the average person would miss out on if somehow glossed over. For this reason coupled with the fact that I was made out to be the bigger reprobate for not ceremonially surrendering to the dictates of the group through formalized membership than those that made it known that booze would be available at Sunday school get togethers I eventually parted ways from that congregation.

Is the serious believer going to tell me that such trivialities devoid of an applied context have more relevance to their Christian walk than whether or not you and your family are going to be permitted to remain what has traditionally been classified as normal human beings? Though this threat sounds so off the wall as if it had been lifted straight from the pages of a comic book or a Star Trek marathon, credentialed scientists and other speculative academics are subtly starting to move the public conscientiousness away from seeing bioenhancement or genetic technologies as a way to correct the ravages of disease but as a way to enhance otherwise sufficient human beings.

As I stated in my previous examinations of this topic, during the 1990’s about the scariest villains in popular science fiction has to be the Borg from Star Trek’s The Next Generation and Voyager as those belonging to this species has a considerable percentage of their biological anatomy replaced with mechanical components in large part to eliminate individuality and to replace this mode of perception with a unified group consciousness. In other words, the Borg were the ultimate Communists. However, now that some time has elapsed, it is now not all that uncommon to find in popular science magazines articles extolling the wonders of the Borg as the next step in human evolution.

One such article is titled “Is There A Borg In Our Future” published in the Fall 2007 issue of “Ad Astra”. The authors write, “For years, the most devoted advocates of robotic and human cooperation have envisioned mechanical devices and human beings exploring space together; but even in this vision, the two remain separate entities — master and servant, owner and slave, flesh and machine. Technological developments now beginning to take place in some settings might permit a true merger — humans equipped with robotic parts or machines possessing sentient qualities.”

Thus, as man is reduced to the level of a biological machine as a result of materialistic evolution, the naturalist naturally begins to wonder why ought man to consider himself superior to the gadgets he employs to better enjoy his existence.

The implications of this are startling and are hinted at in the very next paragraph of the “Ad Astra” article. The article says, “The social metaphor for future space exploration may not be Luke Skywalker and his amusing companions R2-D2 and C-3PO but the Terminator.” Does anyone seriously want to live in the world of the Terminator?

The article downplays this particular speculative milieu by admitting, “The merger of human features and machine parts has negative consequences in The Terminator.” That’s putting it mildly.

In “The Terminator” series, a nuclear war is commenced by a defense computer called Skynet that becomes sentient. Its robotic constructs proceed to wipeout the surviving humans.

All of the Schwarzenegger versions of Terminators were robots with human skin stretched over their bodies. Is this what the authors of the “Ad Astra” article aspire to?

The authors attempt to calm the reader of the “negative consequences” they quickly gloss over by assuring that the horrors depicted in these films need not end up being reality. Ironically, those with their heads stuck in so-called “make believe” may have a more accurate understanding of human nature than those claiming to be more sensible in their approach.

The article concludes, “…if the Borg really are us, they need not be feared.” However, it is precisely because they could be us that they need to be feared.

A creation can never be morally superior to or better than its creator. Though created perfect, from the Book of Genesis, the Bible student gets the impression that it was not long before Adam and Eve rebelled against God and opened the floodgates to the evil and suffering making up the primary forces of history.

One could debate until blue in the face whether or not a robot was really alive or not.

But imagine how much quicker then if allowed to make their own moral decisions until these independent artificial consciences will turn on their metaphysical progenitors in much the same way we all do on a daily basis into what use to be called “sin”.

If the authors of the “Ad Astra” article are so keen on the amalgamation of man and machine beyond that of perhaps the replacement of a failing organic limb or organ for the purposes of alleviating suffering rather than to alter innate humanness beyond something intended by the design of providence, perhaps they should be the first to volunteer. Nothing to fear from the Borg; perhaps these authors would like to have their innermost thoughts scrutinized by the collective consciousness of that species. That will be, however, a hell these postulators would rather inflict upon those they categorize as the lesser breeds of men (in other words, the rest of us).

Sometimes, the overly pious or those merely afraid of losing their tax exempt status (though you might be surprised how often these two constituencies often overlap) might claim, “Oh, even if all that is true, we only address spiritual and religious matters and don’t soil our hands with politics or even scientific matters.” However, Transhumanism has permeated theological and religious thought as well.

One religion in particular, though most of its adherents would not necessarily be deceived by Transhumanism’s bizarre allure, would seem to have a unique affinity for Transhumanism as one of its foundational doctrines is that God was once a man from the planet Kolob (sounding disturbingly like Battlestar Galactica’s Cobol [especially in relation to the 70's version]) and that you too can become your own God if you try hard enough.

At the website of an adherent of this particular faith that was dedicated to the advancement of Transhumanism, my initial commentary on the subject is referred to for daring to point out the movement’s communalist dangers as well as acknowledging how others have taken it in a radically individualist direction. This critic snaps, “Which is it? Are Transhumanists all radical individualists or radical communitarians?

The answer is not all that simple. Usually, the leftists that embrace nonsense like Transhumanism like to pat themselves on the back for being so broadminded as to be able to hold two logically contradictory notions all at the same time.

Yet they so easily dismiss the notion that Transhumanism can be both radically individualistic and collectivistic at the same time. For it is not a movement that is either/or but rather of one feeding into another.

In “The Children Of Darkness, Richard Wheeler writes, “Burke’s implication is that a society of guiltless unfettered men is one ungovernable or at least governed by a tyrant (22).” Thus Transhumanism can simultaneously for now appeal to two constituencies with seemingly divergent agendas.

For example, in its initial stages, Transhumanism can appeal to freaks like those occasionally featured on the Discovery Channel who surgically alter themselves to look like tigers, lizards, or whatever other barnyard whatnots happy to catch their fancy. Albert Mohler mentioned in his examination of this subject someone who wanted to have a perfectly healthy leg amputated so this person would not have to be a source of “biopower for the state” (in other words, this lazy bum wanted to lay around all day no doubt collecting a check from the state he otherwise despises).

However, these dupes no matter how much they claim to be standing for liberty, since they are desiring to take liberty past a point to which it was never intended, are merely the pawns of the collectivists who quietly manipulate things behind the scenes hoping things will grow so marked by disorder and confusion that the masses will clamor for an iron fist to tighten around their necks.

Either as a result of willful ignorance or because they are just so burdened by the concerns of the present, the average Christian may have little idea of the dangers to both the individual and society barreling down the pike. However, those either deriving hefty salaries or at least job satisfaction from being one of those charged with watching over the Lord’s flock need to take this charge seriously from wherever the danger arrives from along the timeline or get out of the pulpit.

Chastisement and punishment are two different things.  As the Protest minister C. H. Spurgeon so eloquently put in 1855,

Punishment is laid on a man in anger. God strikes him in wrath, but when he afflicts his child, chastisement is applied in love, his strokes are … by the hand of love. The rod has been baptized in deep affection before it is laid on the believer’s back. God doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve us for nought, but out of love and affection, because he perceives that if he leaves us unchastised, we shall bring upon ourselves misery ten thousand-fold greater than we shall suffer by his slight rebukes, and the gentle blows of his hand.

The chastisement many believe is coming has been attributed to several things, for example: extensive greed like the recent stock & real estate speculation, sodomite sin like gay marriage, neopaganism like Wiccan and Celtic worship, atheism, abortion, lawlessness, heresy, or even Barack Obama himself (sort of a mini-agitator for much of the above).

But all of these sins against God and His Word have happened before in human history.

Remember the greed and wealth of the Italian Medici clan, the ‘gay behavior’ at Sodom and Gomorrah, Roman paganism, the original Celts and Druids, the atheism of the Soviet Union, the eugenics of Nazism, the abortion in Sparta or thousands of other examples.

One can argue that all of these received chastisements such as military defeats, fall of governments, death of religions, or literally fire from heaven.

I believe the coming chastisement, if true, will be greater than any before in human history, but not because of traditional sins.

If it occurs, it may be the greatest ever because of sins which have never occurred before in human history.  Sins so great that they threaten God’s creation itself.

The Genetic Superclass?

The uber-rich, the world superclass invisible to most of us, use every advantage they have over the remainder of humanity.

The best schools, the best medicine & doctors, the best land, super yachts, private jets, tourist trips to space … the best of everything money can buy.

But what happens when money can buy them the ability to make themselves and their children genetically superior to the remaining 99% of us?

Imagine as the superclass orders up additional muscle strength, faster reflexes, better eyesight, greater intelligence, more resistance to disease … the list is nearly endless.

You and your children, now behind economically, will be behind in the very basis of life, your DNA!

The superclass probably believe they are already genetically better, given that they rose to the top.

Many of us beneath them point to affluent or politically-connected parents who gave the superclass a head start too great to overcome.

The question will be settled, though, if the superclass are no longer made in the image of God, but in the superhuman image that a scientist creates for them.

Human Cloning

The Coming Clones

Human cloning is a matter of when, not if.  Some rogue scientists have already claimed to have accomplished the deed.

Imagine a member of the superclass again, amoral as he is rich, who has liver trouble.  He seeks out a rouge scientist and pays huge sums to have himself cloned, to obtain a perfect donor liver.

Or imagine a couple with untreatable infertility, who decide to clone themselves. The result is that essentially the son is a twin of the father and the daughter the mother’s twin.

Long the stuff of science fiction, donor clones are closer than you know.  Human embryos have already been cloned against the will of God. I believe there is a greater chance than not that a member of the uber-rich has already taken advantage of this technology.

Cloning proponents, however, might do well to read Where Late The Sweet Birds Sang by Kate Wilhelm, the best novel I’ve ever read about cloning.

Or better yet, what the Vatican has to say about it.

Human Chimera?

The Coming Human Chimeras

“But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.” -1st Corinthians 15:38-39

Animal, plant and human genes have been blended for many years now.

Scientists, medical companies, large agricultural concerns, universities and probably even garage geneticists routinely swap genes between species in search of better crops, stronger livestock, more productive fisheries or cutting edge medicines.

Did you know man has already created the geep, a sheep-goat chimera?

Last year Britain crossed the ultimate boundary when the British parliament voted to legalize human-animal abominations last year. Scientists there can now legally create “true hybrids,” fertilizing animal eggs with human sperm.  See the Baby and the Beast: Woe Unto Britain for my take on last year’s travesty.

What can God feel but betrayal and sadness as He watches His children mixed with all kinds of wild animals, all kinds of cattle, and all kinds of creeping things of the earth that God once found good? (Genesis 1:20-27).

Worse yet, what happens when a member of the economic elite intentionally decides to create some half man-half animal abominations for a private zoo, much like Michael Jackon’s private Neverland ranch?

Other Current Genetic Manipulation of DNA

“Garage geneticists” are basically individuals of high intelligence (and low wisdom in my opinion) who create small genetic labs in their garages or basements at home.  They have at their disposal the tools and information needed to do genetic engineering which once took huge government, university or private labs to do.  There is even a website dedicated to the open exchange of bioengineering information – the Open Wetware project.

Richard Ebright, a biochemist at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey, has said of garage geneticists, “Without any oversight from an institution, colleagues or peers, the probability that a cataclysmic entity might be constructed by someone unaware of known cautions is significant.”

Ebright worries the greatest potential danger is that someone might intentionally synthesise or recreate deadly pathogens like the 1918 flu strain, which killed an estimated 40 million people worldwide.

Basically, some amoral, intelligent idiot with set of test tubes in his or her garage is likely to wipe millions with an accidental germ creation.

He says such a prospect is … “on the edge of being within the technical capabilities of someone working outside the laboratory environment.”

No chastisement is needed here; the effect is its own chastisement.

The Coming Borg

The Borg were a fantastical, evil man-machine mix on Star Trek Voyager, hellbent on galactic domination.

Less fantastic are current experiments mixing animals and machines.  Recently the Chinese created Cyborg Pigeons and the Pentagon would love to have Remote Controlled Sharks.  The Pentagon even openly admits its trying to produce machine-controlled insects for spying as seen below.

This ghoulishness has gone on as far back as the 1960’s, when the CIA tried to eavesdrop on Russians using a cat implanted with a microphone and antenna (Operation Acoustic Kitty), coincidentally 2 years after the warning at Garabandal.

Given current experimentation, it won’t be long (if it hasn’t already happened) before some country tries to create cyborg soldiers or someone implants chips in the human brain for fast learning or information retrieval, seeking to get a leg up on everyone else.

God has already warned about destroying His temple in you and the danger of human craftiness,

Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God, which you are, is holy. Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool so as to become wise. (1 Corinthians 3:16-18)

The Coming Singularity – The Silicon Satan

In 1993, science-fiction writer Vernor Vinge warned of the coming singularity, a time in which humans either intentionally or accidentally create a computer program with superhuman intelligence that quickly evolves beyond our ability to understand or shut it off.

He warned that shortly after, “the human era will be ended.”  (Also see Ray Kurzweil on the subject.)

Dr. Anthony Berglas of the University of Queensland, Australia warned in 2009 that “unlike man, a computer based intelligence is not tied to any particular body, which would give it a radically different world view. In particular, a software intelligence would essentially be immortal and so have no need to produce independent children that live on after it dies. It would thus have no evolutionary need for love.”

No need for love.  The antithesis of God.  In other words, a Silicon Satan.

The Coming Creation of Life

Synthetic life is the goal of many scientists around the world. Unsatisfied at manipulating elements of God’s creation, their aim is to take the elements of life and create their own unique organisms from scratch.

Craig Venter, one of the first to sequence the entire humane genome, created an entirely synthetic genome of one bacteria in 2008.  All he has to do is now is “boot it up” in a cell, he says.  But that’s using one of God’s already existing cells, not really creating life from scratch.

Closer to this goal are Harvard scientists who reported just two weeks ago that they have created synthetic ribosomes.

Ribosomes are basically a cell’s factory that translates genetic code into the proteins needed to create a replica of the cell.  This is a much harder goal than Venter’s.

The Harvard scientists plan to create a unique organism with 151 genes that can self-replicate.  Life.

I guess the greater question is … will assembling the components of life actually give the man-made creation the “spark” of life?  That is, will it suddenly begin to live, much like organisms created by God so long ago?

An even greater question is, what does God think about the whole affair?  Will He be content to watch the whole hubristic affair unfold, does He already know that it will end in disaster and by allowing it, the man-made disaster will be God’s chastisement?

Satan’s Second Genesis

If there ever is a Satanic second genesis, I believe one solution is for Catholics of the right cloth, right capabilities, right resources, and at the right time in their lives, to abandon the world’s cities for small, church-based communities seeded throughout the countryside.

Requests would have to be made to local bishops, but I believe some would nurture such communities and allow orders and priests to aid in the effort.

Priests, nuns, brothers and laity living side by side and leading a much simpler life than we lead today, where the seasons of life and liturgical seasons would be more closely aligned.

Call me Catholic Amish. Just kidding.

I’m not a neo-Luddite, but I do believe that like the monasteries of Medieval times, these villages and towns could maintain the faith and ways of life that have served us well.  Obviously more agrarian, but also making goods and selling services for the cities and suburbs around them, not totally divorced from the  world.

These small villages or towns separated geographically from secular cities (and still taking their lead from bishops and the Vatican) could serve as reservoirs and bastions against the foolishness of men and possibly God’s chastisement.

A Spirit of Watchfulness, Not Worry

As much of the above might worry you or me, I write about it not in worry but in watchfulness.

Human and Catholic history is full with the follies of man.

So I ask, if we can see these dangers on the horizon, is there anything wrong with being watchful and preparing a Catholic remnant just in case?

Call it prudence.

But also remember, these scenarios are not written in stone.  We can act in our legislatures to write laws against these abominations.

We can also pray and trust in our Lord to prevent these scenarios from coming true.  Prayer works.  Ask our Lord.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the LORD and turn away from evil; This will mean health for your flesh and vigor for your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8)

Be watchful! I have told it all to you beforehand. “But in those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then he will send out the angels and gather (his) elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky. “Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the gates. And then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in the clouds’ with great power and glory… (Mark 13:13-29)

The scrolls were found by a shepherd in a cave at Qumran, on the edge of the Dead Sea, in 1947. One of the most important archaeological finds of the century, their significance was enhanced by the discovery of an untouched version of the Hebrew Bible dating back to 300BC.

Some scholars believe that the obscure sect may have had an impact on early Christianity, positing that John the Baptist or even Jesus may have spent time with them. Professor Elior argues, however, that an analysis of the scrolls shows that the authors were recording the routines and practises of the cohanim, or priests, descended from Zadok, the first high priest in Jerusalem after the conquest of the city by the Israelites hundreds of years before.

She believes they were taken to Qumran some time during the 2nd century BC after the Sadducees turned their backs on the Temple of Jerusalem, which they said had been defiled by the conquest of the Seleucid Greeks, the descendants of one of the generals of Alexander the Great, in 175BC.

“I believe any serious scholar truly can’t but admit that the law reflected in the scrolls is a Sadducee law,” she said, pointing out that there were no corroborating historical records, either in Jewish or early Christian literature, to indicate that a large sect of celibate men lived in the area over a long period of time.

“The Essenes are only a literary invention of a Utopian society that lived a most benevolent and chaste life,” she told The Times.

The confusion arose from scholars using other, later texts as their sources, she said, noting that the Jewish-Roman scholar Josephus mentioned them, but that he was writing hundreds of years later.

The professor also noted that when the texts were unearthed in 1947, the area around Jerusalem was caught up in the war that created the Jewish state, and that early hurried assessment of their origin set scholars on the wrong track for decades. The theory has stirred controversy in academic circles, with established scrolls experts vehemently rejecting the new interpretation.

“Almost seventy scholars accept the statement that one of the Essenes’ groups lived in Qumran, and some say we’re all morons and only they understand,” Hanan Eshel, a professor at Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv, told the Haaretz newspaper.

The debate has even led to the arrest of the son of one proponent of the theory that the Essenes did not write the ancient scriptures. Raphael Golb, the son of Norman Golb, a professor at Chicago University, was arrested in New York this month for allegedly creating online aliases and conducting a campaign of harassment against academic opponents of his father’s theories.

Father and son claimed that members of mainstream academia were trying to silence the professor. The younger Mr Golb reportedly accused his father’s critics of being anti-Semites trying to deny the link between the scrolls and established Jewish institutions.

Monastic mystery

— The Essenes are believed to have been a religious sect in Palestine from about the 2nd century BC to the end of the 1st century AD

— The New Testament makes no mention of them, and accounts by Pliny the Elder, Philo of Alexandria and Josephus differ in significant details

— Pliny, in his day, fixed their number at 4,000. They are thought to have moved to the desert in opposition to the powers in Jerusalem and lived in secluded monastic communities

— It is believed that they considered themselves to be a chosen elect and that messianic figures would appear to them and usher in a new age, and that they spent their days engaged in manual work or study of Scripture

— After a year’s probation, converts received emblems but were banned from common meals for two years

— Those who qualified then swore piety to God, justice towards men, hatred of falsehood and faithful observance of the tenets

Following the biggest political firestorm of the 2009 legislative session, a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday on the financial and administrative management of the Catholic Church has been canceled. The bill is dead for the rest of the legislative session.

As soon as word spread about the bill, the Legislative Office Building was flooded with telephone calls and e-mails on Monday. The bill, virtually overnight, became the hottest issue at the state Capitol.

The cancellation came less than 24 hours after Senate Republican John McKinney of Fairfield called for the cancellation, saying that his caucus was unanimously against the bill because they believe it is clearly unconstitutional.

It’s more than a belief.  The First Amendment makes that clear:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After many people wondered aloud how Lawlor and McDonald managed to graduate their high-school civics class, they finally admitted that their bill to strip Catholic bishops of authority over parishes had, well, overreached — but they blamed Connecticut for their confusion:

For reasons that are unclear, Connecticut has had generations-old laws on the books singling out particular religions and treating them differently from other religions in our statutes.  That doesn’t seem right.

You’re just figuring that out?

In fact, many of our existing corporate laws dealing with particular religious groups appear to us to be unconstitutional under the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. If that is correct, any changes to that law would likely also be unconstitutional.

No kidding!  And your solution was to expand those laws?

With that in mind, it would serve no useful purpose to have a conversation about changing the laws that govern existing Roman Catholic corporations until we know if any of these existing laws are constitutional.

Did it not occur to Lawlor and McDonald that legislating the structure of a religion is not a useful purpose for government at all, and not just when they’ve discovered that they goofed by expanding unenforced and unenforceable laws on their books?  In what way does the state of Connecticut have any “useful purpose” in designing church management structures?

Update: Some in the comments say that Lawlor and McDonald only have to worry about the state constitution, not the federal Constitution.  I beg to differ — here’s the oath of office, emphasis mine:

You do solemnly swear (or affirm) that you will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Connecticut, so long as you continue a citizen thereof; and that you will faithfully discharge, according to law, the duties of the Office of State Representative to the best of your abilities; so help you God.

States cannot infringe on rights enumerated in the Constitution.  That explicitly includes the right to free speech, assembly, redress of grievances, bearing arms, protection against unreasonable search and seizure, and protection against self-incrimination, among others.  Any state law that infringes on these are unconstitutional and invalid.

With not one but three WWII movies out this fall, Jewish moviegoers will be lining up to see at least one of them. Will it be the sophisticated Ralph Fiennes movie The Reader? Or the story of Jewish partisans who founded a resistance in the woods in Defiance? Or the story of the failed assassination attempt on Hitler starring that nice young man who danced in his underwear for us in Risky Business and did impossible things in Mission Impossible?

Valkyrie is getting by far the most press and promotion after being moved up to a December 25th opening to qualify for a 2008 Academy Award in a particularly weak Academy year. Not all of the press has been good for this historical drama with a lead star unable to replicate a German accent for his German role, but a more sinister element has plagued this movie since its inception, when Tom Cruise was cast as Claus von Stauffenberg, a Nazi who attempted to kill Hitler with a briefcase bomb in 1944.

German politicians and the Stauffenberg family immediately objected to Cruise’s casting in the film. Scientology, which Cruise adheres to and actively promotes (and he is also very close to its head, David Miscavige), is considered a dangerous, totalitarian cult in Germany, which has strict laws about the promotion of any such cults. Scientology texts are banned in schools; Scientologists must send their children to Danish schools across the border. The German government went so far as to ban the use of historical sites related to the actual events of 1944 for filming the movie because of Cruise’s involvement, though repeated attempts by United Artists eventually got the motions overturned. Berthold von Stauffenberg, the son of Cruise’s character, said in a public statement, “Cruise should keep his hands off my father.” Thomas Gandow, a spokesperson for the German Protestant Church, said Cruise’s involvement in the film would “have the same propaganda advantages for Scientology as the 1936 Olympics had for the Nazis” and compared the actor to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

Goebbels is a name Cruise has invoked several times in reference to one of his own enemies: psychiatrists. Scientologists believe, according to the writings of founder L. Ron Hubbard (who died with a psychiatric drug in his system), that Hitler used a secret cabal of psychiatrists to develop his eugenics program to eliminate European Jewry and other undiserables. The modern institution of psychiatry was created by Jews who learned their practices from their experiences in the Death Camps. In Los Angeles the Scientologists have a permanent exhibit and an additional one that travels around the world called “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death,” which uses footage from concentration camps to back its claim that psychiatry is not only an unsafe medical practice but a secret society of death cultists. Actual church texts, barred from public display but now available on Wikileaks from ex-Scientologists, reveal that high-level Scientologists (such as Cruise) believe that psychiatrists have been operating for millions of years and were the ones who convinced the evil Lord Xenu (ruler of the Galactic Confederation) to execute the “lesser” alien races and implant their souls, or “thetans,” into the Cro-Magnon humans 75 million years ago. To this day, every human body is occupied by a thetan, as well as clusters of pesky homeless souls known as “body thetans,” which are responsible for all of our anger, fears, and illness. And only Scientology’s non-medically-certified practices of vitamin supplements and counseling sessions can remove their souls from our bodies.

Cruise is not full of alien thetans, of course. He is an Operating Thetan Level VII, meaning not only has he read and come to believe all stated above, but he is no longer a normal, lesser human. He is a “Homo novis” instead of a Homo sapiens. He is a superior race, made possible by the wonders of Scientology. Other members of this superior race include John Travolta and Jenna Elfman.

Scientology has a concept called “clearing the planet,” an effort all Scientologists are meant to be working towards. This means the elimination of body thetans (and thereby suffering) via the elimination of false ideas and creeds. Since all religions are a result of Lord Xenu’s brainwashing of the dead alien souls (known as Event Level II in Scientology’s timeline), they can be logically disproved through hours of expensive counseling at your local Scientology center and – most important – by going off any psychiatric medication you may be taking. Three people are known to have died this year by committing suicide after seeking Scientology counseling. In Israel, the TV show “Friday’s Studio” this year on Scientology, describing it as “the largest cult in Israel” and investigating the death of a Scientologist who committed suicide. (A Scientology spokeswoman called the suicide “unrelated” to his recent counseling sessions with her.) A version with English subtitles is available on YouTube.

Before his death, L. Ron Hubbard wrote extensively about the importance of “clearing the planet” and how to go about doing so. First was to establish a world of “clears” – i.e., Scientologists who have taken enough courses to become Homo novises and spent enough money to be considered free of body thetans. “It is not necessary to produce a world of clears in order to have a reasonable and worthwhile social order; it is only necessary to delete those individuals who range from 2.0 down, either by processing them enough to get their tone level above the 2.0 line…or simply quarantining them from the society.” (L. Ron Hubbard, The Science of Survival, p. 157) People who are “low on the tone scale” – which includes people who are not Scientologists – should be handled. “There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the tone scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the tone scale by un-enturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow….The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the tone scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered.” (L. Ron Hubbard, The Science of Survival, p. 157)
Many regard Scientology as a silly alien cult, to be laughed at but generally ignored. Should it bother us that tens of thousands of active Scientologists are reading The Science of Survival and actively working towards Hubbard’s goal of a “clear” planet? Should it bother us that the Church of Scientology uses celebrities like Tom Cruise to promote its self-help techniques without revealing the sinister material available only to top members?

What, then, does a modern totalitarian cult have to do with the movie Valkyrie? Why was Cruise so eager to cast himself in a Nazi role, though admittedly a Nazi who turned “good” in his last two years and became a postwar celebrated hero for Germany? Cruise is playing out his fantasy – he is the insurgent fighting the war against the Real Evil™. In the film – which your money will support (with a portion of the proceeds going to his bank account, from which he will then donate generous amounts to Scientology, as he did recently by buying them a castle in Italy to use as a Scientology retreat), he tries to destroy Hitler, whom you will recall is now established by Scientology historians to have been controlled by psychiatrists. Cruise is fighting the real enemy – a legitimate medical profession. Run by members of the Galactic Confederation.

Tom Cruise is one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, even with his anti-Semitic portrayal of a Hollywood producer (complete with gold star necklace) in Tropic Thunder. Is having his money go toward funding studies linking the Holocaust to modern medicine worth the price of your movie ticket?

‘Shabbatai Tzvi enthroned,’ Amsterdam, 1666

Aubrey Ross is an unusual man with an unusual pastime. He’s looking for Jewish Muslims. In Turkey. With the help of the Internet. And he’s convinced he has found some.

In a book entitled “The Messiah of Turkey,” due to be published this winter by Frank Cass Publishers in Great Britain, Ross reveals that there are a number of key figures in the present government of Turkey who are Sabbateans – i.e., followers of Shabbtai Tzvi, a Jew who, in the 17th century, claimed he was the messiah, God of Israel, and later converted to Islam.

Ross, an Orthodox Jew from London who has lectured on mysticism at Hebrew University in Jerusalem – but has university degrees in economics and the history of political thought, and is an adviser on pensions at the National Health Service in Great Britain – became intrigued by the subject when he was reading the chapter about false messiahs in Gershom Scholem’s “Major Trends in Jewish Mysticism.”

“I was fascinated by a short sentence that said `many of them were still around in 1970,’” he says.

Shabbtai Zvi was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1625 and became a Muslim in the 1660s, Ross explains, when he was challenged by the sultan of Turkey for declaring that his mission as messiah was to take back the land of Israel, then under Ottoman rule. The sultan offered him three alternatives: make a miracle and become the true messiah of the Jews; be killed; or become a Muslim. Shabbtai Tzvi chose the latter.

“Shabbtai Tzvi embraced Islam,” he says, “and that would be the end of the story, but he claimed that his embrace was different than Jesus’ crucifixion: He was entering the `dark world’ to bring life into it. His followers called this the `sacredness of sin’ and quoted Isaiah 53: `The messiah will suffer.’”

Adds Ross: “Anyway, most people say the messiah will suffer – leading the Jewish people is not easy!”

After Shabbtai Tzvi’s death, he relates, his family and followers moved to Salonika. When Greece took it over in 1924, descendants of that community returned to Turkey.

Underground kabbalist colleges

“I wasn’t satisfied with the sentence about many of them being around in 1970,” Ross says. “I went to a lady professor of kabbala in London who insisted [the Sabbateans] were a 17th-century phenomenon that faded away in the early part of the 20th century. I said I don’t think they did. Then a friend introduced me to Naim Tucsin, a Turkish Muslim professor of politics at London University, who told me he would contact an editor of an Istanbul newspaper who is a Jew and ask him about it. Six months later, I got a phone call from the editor, saying `come to Istanbul.’”

He traveled to Istanbul and stayed at the Pier Palace Hotel. One day, Ross “was taken to the office of a Muslim gentleman. I sat down, was given coffee and he asked me, `What do you know about `tiferet’ [glory]?’ The significance of the term represents an entire kabbalistic structure in which tiferet is the God of Israel.”

Ross, who is also warden of Hendon United Synagogue, one of the largest in London, decided four years ago to write a book about his discoveries. He began learning Turkish and traveled twice to Turkey: “I penetrated the Sabbatean structure. I met with the president of the Sabbatean community. They were at the point of showing me one of their secret synagogues, but got scared.”

He explains that “the Sabbateans believe that God is the creator of the world, but has underneath his authority the God of Israel. I discovered there are 50 `ogans’ – spiritual leaders – of the Sabbatean movement. They have trained in 12 kabbalistic colleges in Turkey, which are underground. They are experts in the Zohar, in `Sefer Bahir’ and `Sefer Yetsira,’ prominent kabbalistic works which are accepted and respected by Orthodox Jews, but not revered [to the same extent]. They also know the Five Books of Moses, the Prophets and other writings, but very little or no Talmud as this had been transcended by Shabbtai Tzvi.”

According to Ross, the secretive Sabbatean community, with an estimated 20,000 members, is known to security forces in Turkey, but not to the general public. Most of them live in Istanbul in large blocks of luxury flats in the Shishli Jewish quarter – unbeknownst to their neighbors.

“It’s like a well-known secret. But the Sabbateans don’t want to be exposed. I have been asked by four members of the community not to publish my book. They fear reactions from extreme Islamic elements.”

To help substantiate his claims, Ross brought to Israel one of the members of the community who was willing to “come out of the closet” in order to be converted formally by rabbis: “Ilgaz Zorlu is his name. But the rabbis [in Israel] said he can’t be converted because he doesn’t accept all of the Talmudic law. They accepted that he knows more kabbala than they do. He prays; he practices Conservative Judaism. But, he’s not bothered about Talmud so they said he had to do a nine-month conversion.”

Meanwhile, Zorlu, a young accountant from Istanbul, has written his own book, which is mostly historical in nature. Entitled “Yes, I am a Salonikan,” it has been printed six times.

Ross believes that there are a number of secret Sabbateans who hold key positions of influence in the Turkish parliament, legislature and executive branches of government, including the foreign minister himself. This, he observes, may help explain the close relations that exist today between Israel and Turkey
