This is a translated version of a letter that, on the 11th of Ocotober 2009, was sent out to journalists working for the corporate media in Sweden and has since then been widely distributed among a very rapidly growing grassroot anti-vaccine/anti NWO movement in Sweden.

To all journalists working in Sweden: The truth is out. Your employers have been revealed. Your employers employers have been revealed. Your employers employers employer has been revealed. The truth is out. I repeat: The truth is out.
The biggest crime against humanity in modern time is taking place right in front of our eyes – and you, all swedish journalists, are quiet. I repeat: The biggest crime against humanity in modern time is right now taking place in front of our eyes – and you are quiet.
To all journalists working in Sweden: with this letter I want to tell you that you have a choice. Either you immediately, and I do mean immediately, start reporting what is really going on in this country and all over the world – or else, as of today, you will be regarded as accomplices in this close to unimaginably horrendous criminal act against the people of Sweden and against the people of the entire planet.
I repeat: To all journalists working in Sweden, either you immediately start reporting what is actually going on in the world, or else you are considered enemies to the people of Sweden.
Passivity is no longer an option. Silence is no longer an option. Propaganda is no longer an option. Disinformation is no longer an option. As of today, wednesday, the 11th October 2009, you will start to write, tell and show us the truth.
Your employers, the corporate media in Sweden and around the world, are right now under the control of the most evil international crime syndicate that has ever existed. We know that they have siezed your base of operation.
Aftonbladet, Expressen, Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Metro, The Swedish Radio, The Swedish Television, TV4, and all you other lackeys of evil – we know that right now, you are all being used as the central unit of propaganda, in Sweden, for the most cynical conspiracy that humanity has ever seen.
We know that this conspiracy stretches all the way from Wall Street, to the White House, to the World “Health” Organization, to the UN, to the European Union, to the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, to the upcoming meeting in Copenhagen, to media moguls, to the world’s leading bankers, to top politicians, to the swedish government, to swedish banking, to the swedish press, to the swedish drug agency, and to corresponding institutions all across the world.
I understand if this sounds unpleasant, but this is nothing compared to how unpleasant things will become if we all don’t take this absolutely seriously. Right now. Today. Absolutely seriously. This is nothing to smile about. Nothing to dismiss. Nothing to ignore. The crime that is right now taking place in front of our eyes is a part of the most hideous, and sophisticated, conspiracy that can – unless you and we take immediate action – bring more pain and suffering to both us and coming generations than we ever could have imagined.
In the case you choose to call this crazy conspiracy theories without even informing yourselves about what is actually going on in the world: stop this nonsense right away.
The truth is out. We know what is going on. The majority of the people in Sweden and around the world are not aware of the things that are taking place, but there are enough people who are aware for me to, once again, repeat this ultimatum: Starting today, the 11th of November 2009, you will start working with conveying the truth about the swine flu, the vaccine and the ongoing mass vaccinations to all people in Sweden.
If you refuse to meet this demand, then I, and all others who are aware of what is going on, and all of those that within a near future will start to understand, will – for the rest of your careers, for the rest of your lives – hold you responsible for just standing on the side and doing nothing but observe, while this disgusting crime was taking place.
All of you swedish journalists, it is your job to scrutinize those in power. It is your job to report to us when they abuse their power. It is your job to inform the swedish people about current events. Right now, you are not doing your job. This will result in fatal consequences, unless you immediately start doing what you are supposed to do and what you have to do.
Even though I do hope that you come to your senses, it is not something that I neither expect nor rely on. For this reason, I’ve started the page “VaccinationNews“. The same goes for the Swedish people. The most dangerous thing we can do right now is wait for someone else to take action. We have to start taking matters in our hands. You have to take matters in your own hands.
Right now, we dispose over a fantastic means of communication, the Internet. We have to start take advantage of this. Thanks to the Internet, we can communicate with each other directly, by sending links, video clips, documents and articles. It is very important that we do not take our current communicative freedoms for granted. It is equally important that we spread this information that governments, mainstream media and all those in power want to keep away from us, as much as possible and as quickly as possible.
Communicate with the people around you, both in everyday life and on the Internet. Talk to each other, discuss, ask questions, think critically, exchange ideas, send links, post information on facebook, twitter, blogs, in different forums, and spread the word that our future is right now at stake and do it in every way possible.
For every day that passes, our freedoms are being taken away from us, both on the web and in our communities, without most of us even noticing it. If we want to come out of this fight victoriously, then we need to exercise our rights and use all our means of communication to the fullest. Now, right now, right away.

Unfortunately, I believe many of you, both journalists and citizens of Sweden, have still not grasped how serious this situation is. Let me speak clearly: Our lives are at stake. Our childrens lives are at stake. Our grandchildrens lives are at stake.
If you have ever wondered how it could happen that Hitler, about seventy years ago, could come to power and terrorize the entire world for a decade without noone stopping him, then you don’t have to study any history books, all you need is take a look around you, right now, in your own life, in the world today. This is how it happened. This is how it happens.
One of the big questions of this century is whether humanity has learned the lesson from the mistakes that were committed back then, in the middle of the last century, or whether this time as well, we will stand paralyzed, blind for the truth, ignorant, obeying authorities, intellectually and emotionally hypnotized, while the most powerful people on the planet will control humanity as they please, steer us into depravity, as were we a herd of stupid, little sheep?
This is what these people think of us, as sheep. As fools. As slaves. It is up to us if want to accept this, because that is what we have been doing for hundreds of years, or whether we finally, once and for all, will realize what a superb creature each and every one of us in fact is, and then take away both the power positions, means of power and resources from these utterly few but incredibly evil people. I believe the time has come for this. I hope so. I know so.
If you journalists only dare to not start reporting what is going on the world, then we, the people of Sweden, will hold you responsible for indirectly having worked against this and thus contributed to an imeasurable amount of suffering for our friends, our sisters and brothers, our families, our children, our grandchildren, and also for yourselves. Don’t be mistaken; right now, when you are reading this, is the time when you have to make a decision.
The truth is out. This whole story will come to daylight. Believe nothing else. If you think you can get away with your silence, then you are wrong. If you think that you will be able to blame someone else, then you are wrong. If you believe that you are powerless, then you are wrong. You have to start doing your job.

We know that you run errands for these, the most loathsome crooks that the planet has ever seen, by reporting everything that they want you to report, tell us everything they want you to tell us, show us everything that they want you to show us.
If I say the words “Marie Antoinette”, “Ludwig the XVI”, “1793″, “guillotine” – then what are the images popping up in your tiny, corrupt brains? If anyone of you put up a single more misleading placard about the vaccine against the swine flu, if anyone of you show a single more lying news report about the ongoing mass vaccinations, if anyone of you keep on avoiding to give the swedish people all the information that governments and rulers around the world are intentionally keeping away from the citizens, if anyone one of you keep feeding us with the illusion that everything is okey and there is nothing to worry about, if any of you, starting today, the 11th of October 2009, keep on lying to the swedish people, deceiving the swedish people, give disinformation to the swedish people, spread distraction to the swedish people, then you will have to pay very dearly for this.
To all of us, I want you to answer us the following two questions:
1) Where are your loyalties – with the people of Sweden or with the most insidious criminals on the entire planet?
2) From whom do you take your orders?
Now back to the swedish journalists. I suspect that many of you, since a long time back, have realized that there is something fishy going on. I suspect that many of you, since a long time back, are functioning as tools for the propaganda machines that are called Aftonbladet, Expressen, Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Swedish Radio, Swedish Televison, and other devices for intense mass indoctrination of the people of Sweden.
I suspect, as well, that many of you have already started digging into this whole thing and possibly even, to a certain extent, have engaged in some sort of journalistic work. But for some reason, all of you are quiet. I suspect that you have been forced to not write about these matters. I suspect that you are afraid of getting sacked if you start doing what you are supposed to do. I even suspect that some of you have been threatened. I regret this. But if you believe that this an acceptable excuse for your silence, then you are wrong.
If you do not break this silence immediately, then you will – when all of this is brought to dayligt, which it soon will be – from the entire population of Sweden, receive such an avalanche of fury that whatever it is that is right now frightening you will appear as a drop in the ocean in comparison.
The fact that you call yourselves journalists is a disgrace without equal. Right now, you are nothing more than servile writing whores, prostituting your pens and intellects to these cynical-beyond-belief people who crashed an entire world economy, who put the puppet Barack Obama in the White House and made sure he received the Nobel Peace Prize while his politics are raping the entire planet, who made sure this con-artist and his criminal cronies performed the greatest robbery of all time by robbing the american tax payers of hundreds of billions of dollars when they handed out the so called “stimulus packages” to the same banking crooks that staged the whole crash of the economy from the beginning, who made sure that all allied governments around the world did the same thing (including the swedish traitors), who – in an austrian laboratory – mutated virus strains from bird flu, swine flu and human flu and by doing this created the virus called A(H1N1), who far in advance had created the vaccine which they then claim “protects” against the genetically manufactured A(H1N1) virus, who released the virus on the planet’s population, who fabricated the lie that the completely new and “unknown” virus had emerged among mexican swines, who fabricated the lie that the so called “swine flu”, which is the result of this virus, is a lethal threat to humanity, who fabricated the lie that we are facing a full scale pandemic, who made sure that the World Health Organization – which is in their control – on completely ridiculous grounds raised the pandemic level to phase 6 so that, in the almost 200 countries that follow the decisions of WHO, mass vaccinations could begin without any safety control of the vaccine whatsoever, which will then be followed – and this is where we are now – by applying martial law in all of the world’s countries so that the entire population of the planet will be facing forced vaccinations, followed by another injection with the purpose of targeting the human being’s immune system and by doing so – a three-step attack with this biological weapon – carry out an international genocide, whereupon the architects of the whole thing would be able to bring in a global, fascist, totalitarian dictatorship using the UN – which is in their control – as a central base of power for a new world government, and since both the mass vaccination murders and the “financial crisis” robbery would to such a great have weakened the people of the world, we would not be able to revolt, and by doing all of this, these criminal masterminds will be able to keep and strengthen their own positions of power and at the same time consolidating the positions of the misled masses as their ignorant slaves.
The truth is out. This is their plan. And you, all swedish journalists, are quiet.
Fortunately, there is still such a thing in this world as real journalists. One of those is called Jane Bürgermeister and she was the one who first presented the evidence of the mindblowingly evil crime that is currently developing both here in Sweden and all over the world. All the information is available for everyone, including you. And yet, you are quiet. The evidence have been confirmed and confirmed again and confirmed yet again.
For every day that passes, this conspiratory plan is progressing, and for every day that passes, the fight to keep it from succeeding is also progressing – and you, all journalists working in Sweden, are quiet.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. How can you look your children in their eyes? How can you look yourselves in the mirror? The level of integrity that all journalists in Sweden have shown for the past year is so terribly low that you, whose job it is to scrutinize those in power, are not worth more than stinking rats.
If you dismiss all of this as conspiratory nonsense without even trying to dig into the case, then you are turning yourselves into the enemies of the swedish people. It is your job to search for this information, look at it, investigate it, question it, but if you’re not even touching it, if you’re not even telling about it, if you don’t even dare facing it, then you are nothing more than rotten henchmen for the incredibly small gang of super criminals that for centuries have tortured humanity and for centuries to come aim to keep on doing so.

In case you think all of this just sounds to unbelievable to be true, which is understandable (but at the same time, it is not a rational way of confronting the claims) then you can start to look through the evidence.
For example, you can read a two-part memorandum from WHO, which was written in 1972, about how to – in three steps – turn a vaccine into a deadly weapon: first by weakening the immune system, secondly by injecting a large dose of virus into the body which the weakened immune system can’t cope with, and thirdly by injecting an adjuvant that triggers a massive inflammatory reaction and a so called cytokine storm.

Now it is your job, all swedish journalists, to start tell the swedish people about all of this. Immediately. We will not tolerate one more day of propaganda or screaming silence. The choice is yours. You know the deal.

Natural News | To most people, vaccines sound medically harmless. “They’re good for you!” say the doctors and drug companies, but they never really talk about what’s in those vaccines. There’s a good reason for that: If people knew what was really in those vaccines, they would never allow themselves to be injected with them.

Aside from the dangerous ingredients many people already know about (like squalene or thimerosal), one of the key ingredients used in flu vaccines (including the vaccines being prepared for the swine flu pandemic) is the diseased flesh of African Green Monkeys. As this patent readily explains, ingredients used in the vaccine are derived from the kidneys of African Green Monkeys who are first infected with the virus, then allowed to fester the disease, and then are killed so that their diseased organs can be used make vaccine ingredients. This is done in a cruel, inhumane “flesh factory” environment where the monkeys are subjected to a process that includes “incubating said inoculated cell line to permit proliferation of said virus.” Then: “harvesting the virus resulting from step (c); and… (ii) preparing a vaccine from the harvested virus.”

Aside from the outrageous cruelty taking place with all this (”incubating” the virus in the kidneys of living monkeys, for example), there’s another disturbing fact that has surfaced in all this: The patent for this process is held not just by the National Institutes of Health, but by another private corporation known as DynCorp.

This, of course, brings up the obvious question: Who is Dyncorp? And why do they hold a patent on live attenuated vaccine production using African Green Monkeys?

What you probably didn’t want to know about Dyncorp

DynCorp, it turns out, is a one of the top private military contractors working for the U.S. government. In addition to allegedly trafficking in under-age sex slaves in Bosnia (http://www.corpwatch.org/article.ph…) and poisoning rural farmers in Ecuador with its aerial spraying of Colombian coca crops (http://www.corpwatch.org/article.ph…), Dyncorp just happens to be paid big dollars by the U.S. government to patrol the U.S. / Mexico border, near where the H1N1 first swine flu virus was originally detected.

DynCorp also happens to be in a position to receive tremendous financial rewards from its patents covering attenuated live viral vaccine harvesting methods, as described in four key patents jointly held by DynCorp and the National Institutes of Health:

Government collusion?

One of the key inventors in these patents now held by DynCorp was Dr. Robert H. Purcell. Who is Dr. Robert Purcell? He’s one of the co-chiefs of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases operating under the National Institutes of Health of the U.S. government. That office, located at 50 South Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892, is less than 15 miles away from the headquarters of DynCorp.

It’s not too many more miles to Washington D.C., where U.S. government health authorities awarded over $1 billion in swine flu vaccine contracts to pharmaceutical companies. Can you guess which company received one of the largest vaccine manufacturing contracts? Baxter Pharmaceuticals, the very same company using ingredients derived from African Green Monkeys in precisely the way described in the patents held jointly by DynCorp and the NIH. Remember, Baxter is the company that was caught inserting live viruses into vaccine materials distributed to 18 different countries.

Are you following all this?

So far, we have the U.S. government awarding swine flu vaccine manufacturing contracts to a major U.S. vaccine manufacturer (Baxter) that uses vaccine ingredients from African Green Monkeys (sick!), derived from a process covered in a patent invented by U.S. government NIH researchers (Dr. Purcell and others) and now held jointly by the NIH and a private military contractor named DynCorp — the very same company that’s paid to monitor the U.S. / Mexico border where H1N1 swine flu first appeared.

And just today, there’s yet another development in all this: A Tamiflu-resistant strain of swine flu has just been discovered. Care to guess where? On the U.S.-Mexico border (http://www.google.com/hostednews/af…).

Once you understand all this, some obvious questions come to mind: Could H1N1 swine flu have been intentionally created and released into the wild (in Mexico) in order to create a windfall of vaccine profits that would financially benefit both the drug companies and the vaccine production patent holders? Because it certainly appears that a grand conspiracy between the NIH, the vaccine makers and private military contractors could have pulled this off.

But wait: Would a private military contractor really resort to such tactics just to make money?

Since the late 1990s, the United States has paid private contractors an estimated $1.2 billion, both to eradicate coca crops and to assist the Colombian army put down rebels that use the illegal drug trade to finance their insurgency. DynCorp has been awarded under competitive bid more of this business than any other company. In September 2001, a group of Ecuadorian farmers filed a class-action lawsuit against DynCorp under the Alien Tort Claims Act (ATCA), the Torture Victim Protection Act and state law claims in US federal court in the District of Columbia. The plaintiffs claimed that from January to February 2001 DynCorp sprayed the herbicide almost daily, in a reckless manner, causing severe health problems (high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dermatological problems) and the destruction of food crops and livestock of approximately 10,000 residents of the border region. In addition, the plaintiffs alleged that the toxicity of the fumigant caused the deaths of four infants in this region. The plaintiffs alleged under ATCA that DynCorp’s intensive aerial spraying of a toxic fumigant amounted to torture, a crime against humanity and cultural genocide.

And on the issue of DynCorp’s people engaging in the sex slave trade:

According to whistleblower Ben Johnston, a former aircraft mechanic who worked for [DynCorp] in Bosnia, employees and supervisors of a predecessor company to today’s DynCorp International engaged in sex with 12 to 15 year old children, and sold them to each other as slaves.

On June 2, 2000, members of the 48th Military Police Detachment conducted a sting on the DynCorp hangar at Comanche Base Camp, one of two U.S. bases in Bosnia, and all DynCorp personnel were detained for questioning. CID spent several weeks working the investigation and the results appear to support Johnston’s allegations. For example, according to DynCorp employee Kevin Werner’s sworn statement to CID, “during my last six months I have come to know a man we call ‘Debeli,’ which is Bosnian for fat boy. He is the operator of a nightclub by the name of Harley’s that offers prostitution. Women are sold hourly, nightly or permanently.”

Could this same company — which admittedly sprays poison on family farms in Colombia and Ecuador — have engaged in another crime against humanity with the release of swine flu virus in Mexico?

Important questions that need to be asked (and answered)

This apparent conspiracy brings up several important questions that need to be answered:

1) Why are key viral vaccine patents jointly held by the NIH and a large private military contractor?

2) Given the atrocious vaccine material handling safety record of Baxter Pharmaceuticals, why did the U.S. government choose Baxter to manufacture vaccines for public consumption?

3) Why is no one talking about the African Green Monkeys who are infected, incubated and then killed for harvesting vaccine ingredients used in the swine flu vaccine?

4) Is it just coincidence that the swine flu virus (and now the Tamiflu-resistant mutation of the virus) first appeared at the U.S. / Mexico border near where DynCorp has a security presence?

5) Why would the inventors of a key vaccine technology agree to hand over ownership of the patent to a private military contractor like DynCorp?

6) Why has nobody in the mainstream media noticed any of this yet (or not bothered to report on it?)

7) How much money is DynCorp collecting on the vaccine patents due to the sudden large-scale manufacture of swine flu vaccines taking place right now?

Why does the U.S. government continue to do business with criminally-minded organizations and incompetent vaccine manufacturers?

The pieces of the puzzle (opinion)

It’s difficult to consider all the evidence presented here and not come to the rational conclusion that something sinister is afoot in America today. Let me paint a picture for you of a plausible scenario of what I think is happening right now. Note, carefully, that this is merely speculation, but it’s a theory that makes sense:

Back in the late 1990’s, evil leaders of the U.S. government decided they needed to launch a covert population control measure that could reduce the population while deflecting blame for the deaths. The obvious choice for this was a viral pandemic, so using the viral samples and knowledge already attained by U.S. Army virologists, they engineered a combination swine / avian / human influenza virus patterned after the 1918 influenza that devastated the world population nearly a century ago. The plan, of course, would be to release the virus into the wild and let nature do the rest.

But killing off a lot of people isn’t profitable enough all by itself. The plan is a lot smarter if you add a profit center to it… and that’s where the vaccines come into play. First, the patents had to be secured in order to guarantee profitability. DynCorp was offered partial ownership of the patents (together with the National Institutes of Health) in exchange for its responsibility to covertly release the engineered virus in Mexico, assuring the global spread of the next influenza pandemic. It will be paid back in patent royalties from the pharmaceutical companies that are awarded the government-funded vaccine manufacturing contracts.

Baxter was chosen by the U.S. government precisely because of its expertise in inserting live viruses into vaccine materials. And just to make sure the drug companies would play along, the U.S. government (under the Bush administration) granted them all complete immunity against product liability for all vaccines. This removed any financial risk from the drug companies while setting the stage for a massive human die-off following the vaccine injections.

Once the injections begin and people start dying, the deaths will simply be blamed on the virus itself. The drug companies have complete legal immunity, and DynCorp gets its share of the profits as the holder of the patents. Key conspirators are rewarded with bonus stock options and / or the threat of being killed if they talk.

Through this plan, several important things are accomplished:

1) The population gets reduced (with no blame on the national leaders).

2) Billions of dollars get funneled to powerful corporations.

3) The pandemic outbreak itself allows government to declare a State of Emergency where yet more rights and freedoms can be stolen away from the People. (And companies like DynCorp can be hired to run domestic prison camps or “isolation camps.”)

4) The government and the pharmaceutical industry both get to position themselves as “heroic” for apparently attempting to stop the pandemic with vaccines. No matter how many people actually die, Big Pharma will claim many more would have died without the vaccine.

5) Those who survive the pandemic (and the vaccine) become immune compromised due to the vaccine, and they later emerge as repeat customers for future medical procedures (cancer, Parkinson’s, etc.).

Of course, this is all just a theory. Some people might even call it a paranoid theory. But I ask them one question: Why does a top U.S. military contractor share ownership of key vaccine patents with the U.S. government’s National Institutes of Health?

Merely attempting to explain that will lead you down the path to all kinds of eye-opening information about collusion between government, the pharmaceutical industry and the military-industrial complex. And you know what they all have in common? They’re all promoters of death.

But it’s not enough to just kill you; they want to make money while they’re doing it.

Read your history

Finally, I feel the need to preempt the naive critics who will inevitably post comments to this story like, “Corporations and governments would never knowingly harm people for power or profit.”

Such naivete is almost not worth responding to, but I’ll do it in advance just to be sure: Read your world history. Not only is world history full of examples of governments and corporations knowingly harming people for profit, it could be accurately stated that world history is largely a collection of precisely such things!

Read your Noam Chomsky, or Naomi Klein, or Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins. Although I can’t prove it yet, I believe this current swine flu vaccine push is also part of a grand military-industrial-pharmaceutical conspiracy designed to harm the people while extracting huge profits. Only time will tell if this is an accurate assessment of the current situation.

In the mean time, you may wish to avoid being injected with viral material taken from African Green Monkeys (unless you’re some sort of sicko).

NEW YORK – Male factory workers in China who got very high doses of a chemical that’s been widely used in hard plastic bottles had high rates of sexual problems, researchers reported Wednesday.

Heavy exposure to BPA, or bisphenol A, on the job was linked to impotence and lower sexual desire and satisfaction, according to the study, which adds to concerns about BPA’s effects on most consumers.

The men in the study experienced BPA levels about 50 times higher than those faced by typical American men, said researcher Dr. De-Kun Li. “We don’t know” whether more typical doses have similar effects, he said.

People shouldn’t be alarmed by the finding, said Li, a reproductive and perinatal epidemiologist at Kaiser Permanente’s research division in Oakland, Calif. But he said it would be prudent to limit exposure to BPA while scientists look for any effects from lower doses.

The U.S. government recently announced new funding for research into BPA’s effects.

Li is lead author of the latest study, published online Wednesday by the journal Human Reproduction. The work was financed by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

BPA is used in a wide variety of consumer products, including some hard plastic bottles and metal food or beverage cans. Several makers of baby bottles recently said they had stopped using the chemical. Some 90 percent of the U.S. population carries detectable levels in the urine.

Scientists are concerned that BPA exposure might harm the reproductive and nervous systems, and possibly promote prostate and breast cancers. Last year, a preliminary study linked BPA to possible risks for heart disease and diabetes.

The Food and Drug Administration concluded last year that trace amounts of BPA that leach out of bottles and food containers are not dangerous. But the FDA is now reviewing that stance after criticism from its scientific advisers.

For the new research, Li and colleagues studied 164 factory workers in China who were exposed to high levels of BPA on the job. They were compared to 386 other men in the same town who either worked at other factories or were married to factory workers.

The scientists measured BPA exposure through air sampling, and interviewed the workers about their sexual functioning.

Compared to the other workers, men with high BPA exposure were about four times as likely to report trouble achieving erections, about seven times as likely to say they had difficulty ejaculating, and about four times as likely to report low sex drive or low satisfaction with their sex lives.

The effects are dramatic and “pretty clearly related to the exposure,” said Linda Birnbaum, director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, who was not involved in the research.

The finding fits in with animal studies and should be followed up by research in the general population, she said. Her institute said last month it will spend more money on BPA-related research, bringing the total to $30 million over two years.

Steven Hentges, a BPA expert and official with the American Chemistry Council, an industry group, said the work is “probably not very relevant for consumers.”

For one thing, the reported 50-fold difference in exposure seems to be an underestimate because of how it was calculated, he said. In addition, he said, the workers inhaled BPA or got it on their skin. Consumers get it through diet instead, which lets the body detoxify it, Hentges said.

Li said the workers probably were exposed not only through inhalation and skin contamination but also by swallowing BPA powder that contaminated their food. He said he didn’t know which route was most prominent in the Chinese factories.

Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko has all but declared martial law in the country as he announced yesterday that the National Security and Defense Council will become the supreme ruling authority in the wake of a mystery epidemic sweeping the country.

Yushchenko has made high ranking health ministers members of the NSDC, a government body consisting of the president himself, the chairman of parliament, the prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko (pictured), the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and other high ranking ministers.

Yushchenko told reporters Wednesday night that “the non-fulfillment of its decisions will be prosecuted,” adding “We need to change the system. We need to change the whole system of the state power organization in Ukraine. We have no time for remonstrance no time for waiting”.

The President reiterated his statements in an official address to the Ukrainian people yesterday, in which he states “Failure to comply with [NSDC] orders will immediately result in application to the law enforcement authorities.”

“I instruct the Government and the Ministry of Health to immediately start preventive and promotional work in areas where there is no epidemic, targeting primarily the special risk groups,“ the address reads.

The address also announced orders for the arrest of public health officials who have allowed public gatherings to continue and failed to ban the movement of people, calling it “a display of criminal irresponsibility”.

“I have addressed the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with the request to institute criminal charges of negligence committed by first of all the Chief Sanitary Inspector, Kyiv City Sanitarian and the officials, who, despite having daily information on the epidemic situation in the country, neglected it in pursuit of political dividends and ambition,“ the statement reads.

A further report from Interfax Ukrainia Agency says the Ukrainian Health Minister Wasilij Kniazevicz has asked the country’s top prosecutor to open criminal proceedings against those who are opposed to the implementation of the mass flu vaccination campaign.

Yushchenko’s address also issued a ban on all flu medicines not recognized by the Ukrainian government or by the World Health Organization:

“I demand the Government to immediately cancel the existing order of registration of medical supplies, including vaccines.” the address reads.

The address also implores Ukrainian citizens who have shunned the officially approved vaccinations to reconsider:

“It is generally known that the only way to prevent any infection is vaccination,“ the address reads, “As the President I ask you, dear fellow citizens, to reconsider your attitude to vaccination and do it if necessary, but only, I emphasize it – only after consultation with the doctor.”

” People are dying. The epidemic is killing doctors. This is absolutely unprecedented and inconceivable in the XXI century.” the address continues.

“All the limits have been exceeded – even those under the Constitution that determine my actions as the President.” Yushchenko states.

Yushchenko asserts that there are three types of influenza currently spreading throughout the country, two kinds of seasonal flu and the H1N1 strain.

The President states that this “may lead to the emergence of an even more aggressive new virus”.

However, WHO has said that the H1N1 virus in Ukraine appears “no different there than anywhere else” and that any surge there may be due to a more susceptible population.

Other mainstream reports suggest that British scientists are examining samples of the H1N1 strain from Ukraine to determine whether the virus has mutated.

As we reported earlier this week, conflicting reports suggest that the epidemic in Ukraine is down to an unidentified virus, with some indicating the virus constitutes a pneumonic plague.

According to the write up at Chechen news outlet Kavkaz Center, the Ukrainian News Agency Fraza, has reported “it has been confirmed 100% Pneumonic Plague in Ukraine” and that in order to quell panic only talk of swine flu has been sanctioned by the authorities. However, Kavkaz is a questionable source on this matter, given that Ukraine is a tactical and military ally of Russia.

Other reports have suggested that the epidemic is pure hype being played out as part of a political struggle between opposition politicians in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Tymoshenko has attempted to reverse the panic by announcing that there is no swine flu pandemic in the country at all, and that it is down to “media hysteria” and “politicians’ populist statements” in the run up to January elections.

As this article in The Scotsman highlights, Tymoshenko and Yushchenko, once allies in the so called “Orange Revolution”, are now bitter rivals that are set to fight it out in next year’s elections.

“… there is growing suspicion in the country that the H1N1 virus has also succumbed to a bitter battle for political power that now poisons all aspects of political life and threatens to wreak serious damage on the former Soviet state.” Matthew Day writes.

Around 80 people have died in Ukraine from respiratory related illnesses, it has yet to be confirmed how many were as a result of H1N1 influenza.

Whatever is really going on in Ukraine, the news has sparked a flurry of reports from conspiracy based websites that are citing a warning made in August by a man called Joseph Moshe, who claimed to be a former Mossad microbiologist.

Moshe hit the headlines when he was arrested after a long standoff with police in LA because he had supposedly made threats against the White House.

Shortly after his arrest, hundreds of comments and reports began to circulate stating that Moshe had called into a radio show to warn people about a biological weapon that was being prepared by Baxter International’s Ukraine plant that would be spread via a flu vaccine and would cause a plague upon it’s release.

Moshe’s identity as a microbiologist does seem to be verifiable, and Baxter certainly does have a presence in the Ukraine, as this page with Baxter’s contact information for it’s Ukraine office confirms.

Whether Moshe’s claims have any basis in truth is up for debate, however, it now seems an incredible coincidence that he fingered Ukraine as the location for a specific outbreak.

When the G.D. Searle Co. sought FDA approval for NutraSweet they submitted doctored, fraudulent “studies,” so corrupt that the Department of Justice appointed two prosecutors to Investigate Searle. Searle’s lawyers hired the prosecutors and the case died with the statute of limitations.

Listen in on aspartame hearings in 1976 between Senator Ted Kennedy and FDA Commissioner Alexander Schmidt at the Senate Subcommittee on Labor and Public Health:

Commissioner Schmidt: ”Today I would like to report to you the final results of the Food and Drug Administration’s detailed investigation of animal studies performed by Searle.”

Senator Kennedy: “Is this the first time, to your knowledge, that such a problem has been uncovered of this magnitude by the Food and Drug Administration?”

Dr. Schmidt: “It is certainly the first time that such an extensive and detailed examination of this kind has taken place.  We have never before conducted such an examination as we did at Searle.  From time to time, we have been aware of isolated problems, but we were not aware of the extent of the problem in one pharmaceutical house.”

Senator Kennedy : “The extensive nature of the almost unbelievable range of abuses discovered by the FDA on several major Searle products is profoundly disturbing.”

Yet a year later look what happened!

The 1977 Bressler Report, even without the concealed studies, clearly revealed fraud. Searle deleted what they didn’t want FDA to see, even excised the brain tumors from rats, and put them back in the study. After death they resurrected them on paper.

Chief FDA Scientist, Dr. Thomas Xavier Collins, investigated two mice teratology (birth defects) studies. The incompetent Searle employee who reviewed studies had but a single year of experience: worked on rabbit populations for the Illinois Wildlife Service! The studies were a travesty, like all Searle’s studies submitted to FDA .

When the Bressler Report was retyped, FDA omitted the investigation of these two studies, not wanting the public to see how bad they were. We have now restored these studies to the Bressler Report, thanks to Dr. John Olney and Dr. Madelon Price. We also thank Jerome Bressler for his constant persistence in motivating us to locate these studies. He emphasized the report was not complete without them. Dr. Thomas Xavier Collins was the Chief Scientist and FDA struck his name from the record. Thanks also to Lane Shore , Mission Possible Chicago who has worked tirelessly in this effort for years.

H. J. Roberts, M.D., who testified before Congress and wrote the 1000 page medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, www.sunsentpress.com , unsuccessfully tried to get a copy of the deficient and misleading “studies” through his congressman 8 years ago.  Dr. Roberts explains: “These studies are part of the reason the FDA tried to indict the manufacturer for fraud.

The results were kept under FDA seal for 3 decades.  Indeed the Bressler Report and other studies should have precluded FDA from approving aspartame for human consumption.  For instance, its unconscionable that brain tumors were actually removed from the rats.

Dr. Roberts calls attention to the issue of gender. In his text he says the agencies responsible for approving aspartame apparently overlooked an important gender-related detail in experimental studies.

Now it gets worse.   Here is a 1/10/94 letter from FDA to Barbara Alexander Mullarkey that lists “Pivotal Studies” for aspartame approval.

“Dear Mrs. Mullarkey:  This is in response to your July 26 request, for an answer from the Commissioner on the question:

“Of the 112 studies, in the Index of Master File No. 134 for Aspartame, A Nutritive Sweetener with Flavor Enhancing Properties, which are considered pivotal for approval?”

So thus, we arrive at the plain admission by the FDA that they used E-5 and E89, the concealed faulty studies, to approve aspartame; Jerome Bressler said these were the worst ones.  “ Pivotal” means studies from which data will be used to make significant claims; of vital or crucial importance.

E-32 is FDA A DMISSION that aspartame triggers seizures. Yet they used it to approve the poison. FDA ’s report of 92 aspartame symptoms from coma to death lists 4 types of seizures. In 1986 A tty Jim Turner and the Community Nutrition Institute filed a Citizens Petition to ban aspartame because of seizures and blinding. FDA refused, even though they knew it for years.

Turner, who tried to stop approval said today: “ A ny rational interpretation of pivotal studies would have caused any reason able individual to deny approval of aspartame. Every scientist that looked at the pivotal studies said they don’t support safety of NutraSweet and did not support its approval.”
Aspartame was approved through the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld who was CEO of G. D. Searle and a member of President Reagan’s transition team (one of the ugliest, darkest chapters in the checkered history of the FDA ). Reagan appointed Arthur Hayes as FDA Commissioner and fired FDA Commissioner Jere Goyan who was going to sign the petition revoking aspartame into law. Reagan wrote an Executive Order making FDA powerless to sign that petition until Hayes arrived to kill it. Obviously Hayes didn’t care what the pivotal studies showed. This criminal malfeasance by FDA precipitated what Dr. James Bowen said twenty years ago is “mass poisoning of the US and over 70 countries of the world”.

Food Standards in New Zealand in 2007 admitted they never did studies on aspartame and relied on FDA .  In England a business proposition was used to approve it. Parliament had a blowout and the story was published in the Guardian. No studies were done in the UK . By now 100 nations have rubberstamped G. D. Searle’ fraudulent and corrupt data with FDA ’s blessing so Don Rumsfeld’s aspartame disease has become a plague upon all mankind. .

Dr. Ralph Walton today said: “ Aspartame should never have been approved and furthermore, the FDA scientists at the time did not want it approved but
they were over-ruled by the FDA Commissioner, Arthur Hull Hayes. It was a unilateral decision, a political decision and not one based on medical and scientific data.”

Our lives and health are sacrificed to an addictive, excitoneurotoxic, genetically engineered, carcinogenic drug that damages the mitochondria and even interacts with drugs and vaccines.  It is used in the US by half of the population, creating an incredible epidemic of diseases described in Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic by H. Dr. Roberts is a diabetic specialist and says aspartame can not only precipitate diabetes but also simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve, causes diabetics to go into convulsions and even interacts with insulin.  So we have epidemics of diabetes, obesity, MS, lupus, autism, A LS and other horrors because of
the malfeasance of Arthur Hull Hayes and the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld.  Lives have been destroyed across the planet while FDA continues to lie on its safety with full knowledge of toxicity.

Dr. Ken Stoller, pediatrician, who has the New Mexico Aspartame Detox Center also looked over the investigation of the concealed studies. He said, “These are scientifically offensive “studies”. The manufacturer did everything it could to whitewash aspartame as was done in other studies investigated in the Bressler Report where it was found Searle excised brain tumors from rats, added them back to the study and resurrected them on paper when they died. Who persuaded FDA to delete Dr. Collins investigation of these teratology studies that should have been on public record? They even removed his name from the report. Aspartame is a teratogen, triggers birth defects and mental retardation, yet there is no warning to pregnant women. With the CDC now saying autism is 1% of the children and still a supposed “mystery” allowing known neurotoxins into the food chain is insanity.”
One thing about the aspartame industry they know how to use influence and

The aspartame industry says 200 studies proved aspartame safety.  These
objection able , inferior and worthless studies prove nothing but fraud and
cover-up, and the FDA ’s own toxicologist, Dr. Jacqueline Verrett said they
were built on a foundation of sand. Dr. Verrett testified to the U.S. Senate in 1987 and stated that flawed tests conducted by Searle used as the basis of FDA approval were a
disaster and should have been thrown out.  She said she believed the
studies left many unanswered questions about possible birth defects and
the safety of aspartame.
FDA also knew aspartame caused cancer.  An adenocarcinoma found in 1972
animal study, pp 6, 67, 70 of Bressler Report.  FDA toxicologist and scientist, Dr. Adrian Gross, admitted to the Senate, aspartame caused cancer on 8/1/85 and said:
” In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matt er that had been established way beyond any reason able doubt, one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic A ct?”  He was talking about brain cancer.
The Delaney Amendment makes it illegal to allow any residues of cancer causing chemicals in foods.  In his concluding testimony Gross asked, ”Given the cancer causing potential of aspartame how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame as constituting an allow able daily intake or safe level of it?  Is that position in
effect not equivalent to setting a tolerance for this food additive and thus a violation of that law?  A nd if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?” So here is the admission by FDA ’s own toxicologist that aspartame is on the market because FDA violated the law.
In 2005 and 2007 the impeccable Ramazzini Studies in Italy peer reviewed by 7 world experts proved aspartame to be a multipotential carcinogen. No surprise to the FDA since they knew about the cancer all along. As usual they just lied and denied it when the Ramazzini Studies were published. The medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic has a 1000 pages of why aspartame should not have been approved from adulteration and seizures to birth defects, neurodegenerative diseases, drug interaction and psychiatric disease.

Dr Paul Kenny, a neuroscientist, carried out the research which shows how dangerous high fat and high sugar foods can be to our health .

The researchers believe it is one of the first studies to suggest brains may react in the same way to junk food as they do to drugs.

“This is the most complete evidence to date that suggests obesity and drug addiction have common neuro-biological foundations,” said Paul Johnson, Dr Kenny’s work colleague.

Dr Kenny, who began his research at Guy’s Hospital, London, but now works at Florida’s Scripps Research Institute, divided rats into three groups for his research, due to be published in teh US soon.

One got normal amounts of healthy food to eat. Another lot was given restricted amounts of junk food and the third group was given unlimited amounts of junk, including cheesecake, fatty meat products, and cheap sponge cakes and chocolate snacks.

There were no adverse effects on the first two groups, but the rats who ate as much junk food as they wanted quickly became very fat and started bingeing.

When researchers electronically stimulated the part of the brain that feels pleasure, they found that the rats on unlimited junk food needed more and more stimulation to register the same level of pleasure as the animals on healthier diets.v

Today, the MSM are not talking about this case any more. Yesterday, they wanted us to believe that Joseph Moshe was a nutcase and a terrorist, arrested for threatening to bomb the White House. Interesting detail about his arrest (the “Westwood standoff”) was that he seemed to be immune to the 5 cans of tear gas and 5 gallons of law-enforcement grade  pepper spray they pumped into his face. He very calmly remained in his car, as the video footage of his arrest shows.

Professor Moshe  had  called into a live radio show by Dr. A. True Ott, broadcast on Republic Broadcasting claiming to be a microbiologist who wanted to supply evidence to a States Attorney regarding tainted H1N1 Swine flu vaccines being produced by Baxter BioPharma Solutions. He said that Baxter’s Ukrainian lab was in fact producing a bioweapon disguised as a vaccine. He claimed that the vaccine contained an adjuvant (additive) designed to weaken the immune system, and replicated RNA from the virus responsible for the 1918 pandemic Spanish flu, causing global sickness and mass death.

Sources tell us that Bar-Joseph Moshe made no threat against the President or the White House. He did not mention any bomb or attack. He then proceeded to inform the White House he intended to go public with this information. When he noticed men in suits in front of his house and feared that the FBI was about to detain him, he packed some belongings into his car and, him being a dual Israeli citizen, tried to reach the Israeli consulate located in close proximity to the federal building where the standoff took place. The FBI and the bomb squad prevented him from reaching it. Who is this man? His profile on biomedexperts.com says he is a plant disease expert with many publications on his name involving the genetic manipulation of virii. Joseph Moshe was soon after his arrest sent or let go to Israel. Nothing has been heard from him since. The Secret Service was not the agency involved in the surveillance of Moshe at his home in California. This was done by the FBI, who had orders to detain or arrest him. Mounted on top of a large black vehicle used in his arrest was a microwave weapon that possibly damaged the electronics in Moshe’s car as well as any communication devices he had which might have been used to contact the media or others who could help him.

Moshe did not suffer the same effects of the gas and pepper spray that others would have because he had built up an immunity to such weapons as a by-product of his Mossad training. Moshe was not handcuffed because he was not placed under arrest.

Does this sound like an insane conspiracy theory? Sure it does. Due to the scarcity and anonimity of the sources we would dismiss it as exactly that, if it weren’t for some uncomfortable facts: Baxter Pharmaceutical has been caught, red-handed, in spreading a live, genetically engineered H5N1 Bird flu vaccine as a lethal biological weapon all over the world, destined to be used for human vaccinations. This happened just a few months ago. And only luck prevented a global catastrophe of epic proportions.

Baxter International Inc. had mixed live, genetically engineered avian flue viruses in vaccine material shipped to 18 countries. Only by sheer luck, a Czech laboratory decided to test the vaccine on a dozen ferrets, which all died in days. The World Health Organization was notified and catastrophe was averted. This was clearly a deliberate act on Baxter’s part, because they adhere to BS3, bio-safety level three. Baxter admitted a “mistake”. Such monumental screwups are totally impossible at that level. Many safety systems would have needed to be sabotaged, many key personell would have needed to be bribed. It simply can’t be done without direction from the inside. They did not send out the wrong vial – they produced dozens of gallons of biological-weapon agent (genetically engineered live H5N1 / Bird flu virus), then sent it out as a “vaccine”.

Baxter knew full well that their vaccine was lethal, because the year before they had tested it on a few hundred homeless Polish people – dozens died as a result.

Where’s the meat? Well – Baxter is now being sued for the deliberate, repeated contamination of vaccines with biological weapons designed – by them – to mass-murder people. Here is the complaint (PDF). By some kook nutcase? Not likely – Jane Burgermeister is an experienced, respected journalist. She is not the only one suing Baxter for planning and executing a plan for global genocide: Other are filing complaints as well. Read a well-researched complaint here (PDF).

Motive? The latter complaint alludes to it. Have you heard of the Georgia Guidestones? An enormous monument loaded with Masonic symbolism costing millions of dollars, it has been erected by unknown, powerful elites (multimillionaires with the clout to erect monuments wherever they please, obviously) around 30 years ago. It gives an “alternative ten commandments”, of which the first is the extermination of six and a half billion people from the face of the Earth. Half a billion will remain. This is the number of people the planet can sustain indefinitely, so that the descendents of the Rothschilds and Rockefellers can live in peace and affluence indefinitely. Slaves are needed to produce that luxury, but 500 million will do just fine. But how does one go about killing off most of the world?

“Vaccinating” the planet with a bioweapon with near-100% mortality would do the trick. Baxter would provide both the bioweapon as well as the vaccine against it to “civilized” Western peoples. Result: We can plunder Africa, we have no more competition from SE Asia, the oil is for our taking and only Western and perhaps Chinese sheeple remain.

Rockefeller said this in 1994 at a U.N. dinner: “We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis, and the nations will accept the New World Order.” PNAC said something similar right before 9/11.

Follow flu news and you’ll soon be a little nervous, confused and probably bored. So why am I adding yet another piece? Because our major media outlets have massively underreported important findings of the Cochrane Collaboration on flu vaccines. “There is no evidence whatsoever that seasonal influenza vaccines have any effect, especially in the elderly and young children. No evidence of reduced [number of] cases, deaths, complications,” the Cochrane Collaboration’s Tom Jefferson recently said in an interview with Maryann Napoli of the Center for Medical Consumers.
Who is Jefferson that we should take seriously a statement as startling as this one? He is a medical doctor, an epidemiologist and the leader of an international team of researchers who have combed through a mountain of flu vaccine research.

This is highly relevant to the current swine flu vaccine frenzy—not only will Alberta be offering the regular flu shot alongside the swine flu shot, but the swine flu strain isn’t nearly as novel, nor as dangerous, as we’ve been led to believe. An analysis published in the British Medical Journal says it is of “the same subtype as seasonal H1N1 that has been circulating since 1977.”

In Australia, where the flu season is ending, there have been 186 deaths out of nearly 22 million people. That was with no vaccine available. Our thinking has again been shaped by, as Noam Chomsky in his signature matter-of-fact manner would say, a media that is primarily a public relations industry whose function isn’t so much to inform as to manufacture consent.

The constant message has been that flu vaccines—swine or regular, with or without largely untested adjuvants—are necessary, safe and effective. But that message doesn’t line up with the science. Flu-related mortality rates in the US have been flat over the past 20 years, despite ever-rising immunization rates. Higher vaccination rates in the elderly have actually resulted in higher mortality rates in that same group. During years where viral-vaccine mismatches have occurred, or where production or compliance was particularly low, death rates remained the same.
“Will you be lining up for your flu shot?” I asked one of Canada’s own vaccine scientists, Health Canada whistleblower Dr. Shiv Chopra. “No,” he said. “There’s no out-of-the ordinary threat, and no evidence of either safety or efficacy.”

Which lines up with what Jefferson said—trials have been small, short term, and rather than measure real outcomes against control groups, they’ve measured results on antibody levels. They tell us almost nothing about how safe or effective they are in the long term.

Chopra’s answer also lines up with what we know about vaccine adjuvants from lab research—squalene, a previously unapproved adjuvant but present in the new GlaxoSmithKline shot we’ll be receiving, causes rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and an MS-like paralysis in lab animals. It has been strongly linked to anthrax vaccines and Gulf War Syndrome.

For those who dismiss adjuvant fears as baseless, the German news magazine Der Spiegel has reported that German government officials, the military and pregnant women will be receiving an adjuvant-free vaccine; Glaxo’s Pandemrix (similar to the Canadian version now approved) has been ordered for the rest of the population.

“In 1976 we experienced similar panic about impending swine flu disaster,” says Chopra in his refreshingly quiet and calm manner. “Two hundred fifty million doses of vaccines were distributed.” That vaccine program was halted because it was harming so many.

The gap between public health measures and the science is, once again, disturbing. As is the World Health Organization’s new definition of pandemic. While a pandemic was once defined as a rapidly spreading virus resulting in widespread death, it is now defined as simply a rapidly spreading virus. The requirement of high mortality has been dropped. It’s a handy change, when you consider that fast-track vaccine approvals need the justification of a pandemic.

The flu vaccine frenzy simply isn’t supported by the science; that it is medical science fundamentalists who are most outraged by vaccine resistance is highly ironic. V

After years of insisting there is no evidence to link vaccines with the onset of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the US government has quietly conceded a vaccine-autism case in the Court of Federal Claims.

The unprecedented concession was filed on November 9, and sealed to protect the plaintiff’s identify. It was obtained through individuals unrelated to the case.

The claim, one of 4,900 autism cases currently pending in Federal “Vaccine Court,” was conceded by US Assistant Attorney General Peter Keisler and other Justice Department officials, on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, the “defendant” in all Vaccine Court cases.

The child’s claim against the government — that mercury-containing vaccines were the cause of her autism — was supposed to be one of three “test cases” for the thimerosal-autism theory currently under consideration by a three-member panel of Special Masters, the presiding justices in Federal Claims Court.

Keisler wrote that medical personnel at the HHS Division of Vaccine Injury Compensation (DVIC) had reviewed the case and “concluded that compensation is appropriate.”

The doctors conceded that the child was healthy and developing normally until her 18-month well-baby visit, when she received vaccinations against nine different diseases all at once (two contained thimerosal).

Days later, the girl began spiraling downward into a cascade of illnesses and setbacks that, within months, presented as symptoms of autism, including: No response to verbal direction; loss of language skills; no eye contact; loss of “relatedness;” insomnia; incessant screaming; arching; and “watching the florescent lights repeatedly during examination.”

Seven months after vaccination, the patient was diagnosed by Dr. Andrew Zimmerman, a leading neurologist at the Kennedy Krieger Children’s Hospital Neurology Clinic, with “regressive encephalopathy (brain disease) with features consistent with autistic spectrum disorder, following normal development.” The girl also met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) official criteria for autism.

In its written concession, the government said the child had a pre-existing mitochondrial disorder that was “aggravated” by her shots, and which ultimately resulted in an ASD diagnosis.

“The vaccinations received on July 19, 2000, significantly aggravated an underlying mitochondrial disorder,” the concession says, “which predisposed her to deficits in cellular energy metabolism, and manifested as a regressive encephalopathy with features of ASD.”

This statement is good news for the girl and her family, who will now be compensated for the lifetime of care she will require. But its implications for the larger vaccine-autism debate, and for public health policy in general, are not as certain.

In fact, the government’s concession seems to raise more questions than it answers.

1) Is there a connection between vaccines, mitochondrial disorders and a diagnosis of autism, at least in some cases?

Mitochondria, you may recall from biology class, are the little powerhouses within cells that convert food into electrical energy, partly through a complex process called “oxidative phosphorylation.” If this process is impaired, mitochondrial disorder will ensue.

The child in this case had several markers for Mt disease, which was confirmed by muscle biopsy. Mt disease is often marked by lethargy, poor muscle tone, poor food digestion and bowel problems, something found in many children diagnosed with autism.

But mitochondrial disorders are rare in the general population, affecting some 2-per-10,000 people (or just 0.2%). So with 4,900 cases filed in Vaccine Court, this case should be the one and only, extremely rare instance of Mt disease in all the autism proceedings.

But it is not.

Mitochondrial disorders are now thought to be the most common disease associated with ASD. Some journal articles and other analyses have estimated that 10% to 20% of all autism cases may involve mitochondrial disorders, which would make them one thousand times more common among people with ASD than the general population.

Another article, published in the Journal of Child Neurology and co-authored by Dr. Zimmerman, showed that 38% of Kennedy Krieger Institute autism patients studied had one marker for impaired oxidative phosphorylation, and 47% had a second marker.

The authors — who reported on a case-study of the same autism claim conceded in Vaccine Court — noted that “children who have (mitochondrial-related) dysfunctional cellular energy metabolism might be more prone to undergo autistic regression between 18 and 30 months of age if they also have infections or immunizations at the same time.”

An interesting aspect of Mt disease in autism is that, with ASD, the mitochondrial disease seems to be milder than in “classic” cases of Mt disorder. In fact, classic Mt disease is almost always inherited, either passed down by the mother through mitochondrial DNA, or by both parents through nuclear DNA.

In autism-related Mt disease, however, the disorder is not typically found in other family members, and instead appears to be largely of the sporadic variety, which may now account for 75% of all mitochondrial disorders.

Meanwhile, an informal survey of seven families of children with cases currently pending in Vaccine Court revealed that all seven showed markers for mitochondrial dysfunction, dating back to their earliest medical tests. The facts in all seven claims mirror the case just conceded by the government: Normal development followed by vaccination, immediate illness, and rapid decline culminating in an autism diagnosis.

2) With 4,900 cases pending, and more coming, will the government concede those with underlying Mt disease — and if it not, will the Court award compensation?

The Court will soon begin processing the 4900 cases pending before it. What if 10% to 20% of them can demonstrate the same Mt disease and same set of facts as those in the conceded case? Would the government be obliged to concede 500, or even 1,000 cases? What impact would that have on public opinion? And is there enough money currently in the vaccine injury fund to cover so many settlements?

When asked for a comment last week about the court settlement, a spokesman for HHS furnished the following written statement:

“DVIC has reviewed the scientific information concerning the allegation that vaccines cause autism and has found no credible evidence to support the claim. Accordingly, in every case under the Vaccine Act, DVIC has maintained the position that vaccines do not cause autism, and has never concluded in any case that autism was caused by vaccination.”

3) If the government is claiming that vaccines did not “cause” autism, but instead aggravated a condition to “manifest” as autism, isn’t that a very fine distinction?

For most affected families, such linguistic gymnastics is not so important. And even if a vaccine injury “manifested” as autism in only one case, isn’t that still a significant development worthy of informing the public?

On the other hand, perhaps what the government is claiming is that vaccination resulted in the symptoms of autism, but not in an actual, factually correct diagnosis of autism itself.

4) If the government is claiming that this child does NOT have autism, then how many other children might also have something else that merely “mimics” autism?

Is it possible that 10%-20% of the cases that we now label as “autism,” are not autism at all, but rather some previously undefined “look-alike” syndrome that merely presents as “features” of autism?

This question gets to the heart of what autism actually is. The disorder is defined solely as a collection of features, nothing more. If you have the features (and the diagnosis), you have the disorder. The underlying biology is the great unknown.

But let’s say the government does determine that these kids don’t have actual “autism” (something I speculated on HuffPost a year ago). Then shouldn’t the Feds go back and test all people with ASD for impaired oxidative phosphorylation, perhaps reclassifying many of them?

If so, will we then see “autism” cases drop by tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people? Will there be a corresponding ascension of a newly described disorder, perhaps something like “Vaccine Aggravated Mitochondrial Disease with Features of ASD?”

And if this child was technically “misdiagnosed” with DSM-IV autism by Dr Zimmerman, how does he feel about HHS doctors issuing a second opinion re-diagnosis of his patient, whom they presumably had neither met nor examined? (Zimmerman declined an interview).

And along those lines, aren’t Bush administration officials somewhat wary of making long-distance, retroactive diagnoses from Washington, given that the Terry Schiavo incident has not yet faded from national memory?

5) Was this child’s Mt disease caused by a genetic mutation, as the government implies, and wouldn’t that have manifested as “ASD features” anyway?

In the concession, the government notes that the patient had a “single nucleotide change” in the mitochondrial DNA gene T2387C, implying that this was the underlying cause of her manifested “features” of autism.

While it’s true that some inherited forms of Mt disease can manifest as developmental delays, (and even ASD in the form of Rhett Syndrome) these forms are linked to identified genetic mutations, of which T2387C is not involved. In fact little, if anything, is known about the function of this particular gene.

What’s more, there is no evidence that this girl, prior to vaccination, suffered from any kind of “disorder” at all- genetic, mitochondrial or otherwise. Some forms of Mt disease are so mild that the person is unaware of being affected. This perfectly developing girl may have had Mt disorder at the time of vaccination, but nobody detected, or even suspected it.

And, there is no evidence to suggest that this girl would have regressed into symptoms consistent with a DSM-IV autism diagnosis without her vaccinations. If there was such evidence, then why on earth would these extremely well-funded government attorneys compensate this alleged injury in Vaccine Court? Why wouldn’t they move to dismiss, or at least fight the case at trial?

6) What are the implications for research?

The concession raises at least two critical research questions: What are the causes of Mt dysfunction; and how could vaccines aggravate that dysfunction to the point of “autistic features?”

While some Mt disorders are clearly inherited, the “sporadic” form is thought to account for 75% of all cases, according to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. So what causes sporadic Mt disease? “Medicines or other toxins,” says the Cleveland Clinic, a leading authority on the subject.

Use of the AIDS drug AZT, for example, can cause Mt disorders by deleting large segments of mitochondrial DNA. If that is the case, might other exposures to drugs or toxins (i.e., thimerosal, mercury in fish, air pollution, pesticides, live viruses) also cause sporadic Mt disease in certain subsets of children, through similar genotoxic mechanisms?

Among the prime cellular targets of mercury are mitochondria, and thimerosal-induced cell death has been associated with the depolarization of mitochondrial membrane, according to the International Journal of Molecular Medicine among several others. (Coincidently, the first case of Mt disease was diagnosed in 1959, just 15 years after the first autism case was named, and two decades after thimerosal’s introduction as a vaccine preservative.)

Regardless of its cause, shouldn’t HHS sponsor research into Mt disease and the biological mechanisms by which vaccines could aggravate the disorder? We still do not know what it was, exactly, about this girl’s vaccines that aggravated her condition. Was it the thimerosal? The three live viruses? The two attenuated viruses? Other ingredients like aluminum? A combination of the above?

And of course, if vaccine injuries can aggravate Mt disease to the point of manifesting as autism features, then what other underlying disorders or conditions (genetic, autoimmune, allergic, etc.) might also be aggravated to the same extent?

7) What are the implications for medicine and public health?

Should the government develop and approve new treatments for “aggravated mitochondrial disease with ASD features?” Interestingly, many of the treatments currently deployed in Mt disease (i.e., coenzyme Q10, vitamin B-12, lipoic acid, biotin, dietary changes, etc.) are part of the alternative treatment regimen that many parents use on their children with ASD.

And, if a significant minority of autism cases can be linked to Mt disease and vaccines, shouldn’t these products one day carry an FDA Black Box warning label, and shouldn’t children with Mt disorders be exempt from mandatory immunization?

What are the implications for the vaccine-autism debate?

It’s too early to tell. But this concession could conceivably make it more difficult for some officials to continue insisting there is “absolutely no link” between vaccines and autism.

It also puts the Federal Government’s Vaccine Court defense strategy somewhat into jeopardy. DOJ lawyers and witnesses have argued that autism is genetic, with no evidence to support an environmental component. And, they insist, it’s simply impossible to construct a chain of events linking immunizations to the disorder.

Government officials may need to rethink their legal strategy, as well as their public relations campaigns, given their own slightly contradictory concession in this case.

9) What is the bottom line here?

The public, (including world leaders) will demand to know what is going on inside the US Federal health establishment. Yes, as of now, n=1, a solitary vaccine-autism concession. But what if n=10% or 20%? Who will pay to clean up that mess?

The significance of this concession will unfortunately be fought over in the usual, vitriolic way — and I fully expect to be slammed for even raising these questions. Despite that, the language of this concession cannot be changed, or swept away.

Its key words are “aggravated” and “manifested.” Without the aggravation of the vaccines, it is uncertain that the manifestation would have occurred at all.

When a kid with peanut allergy eats a peanut and dies, we don’t say “his underlying metabolic condition was significantly aggravated to the extent of manifesting as an anaphylactic shock with features of death.”

No, we say the peanut killed the poor boy. Remove the peanut from the equation, and he would still be with us today.

Many people look forward to hearing more from HHS officials about why they are settling this claim. But whatever their explanation, they cannot change the fundamental facts of this extraordinary case:

The United State government is compensating at least one child for vaccine injuries that resulted in a diagnosis of autism.

And that is big news, no matter how you want to say it.
