Paid Lying: What Passes for Major Media Journalism
by Stephen Lendman / November 10th, 2009
Today’s major media journalism is biased, irresponsible, sensationalist reporting that distorts, exaggerates or misstates the truth. It’s misinformation or agitprop disinformation masquerading as fact to boost circulation, readership, viewers, or listeners, and on vital issues lie about or suppress uncomfortable truths to [...]

The Twentieth Century Fox Corporation is not unique in spreading propaganda, but they are rare in admitting it. Rupert Murdoch, himself in 2003, admitted that his Fox company helped to sell George W. Bush’s Iraqi-Afghani wars to the American public.

Disinformation about the Iranian “Threat”
Friends,
Middle East scholar Juan Cole has an excellent piece, “Top Things you Think
You Know about Iran that are not True,” on his blog, “Informed Comment.”
http://www.juancole.com/2009/10/top-things-you-think-you-know-about.html
As he shows, all the claims about the much-ballyhooed Iranian “threat” are
fallacious. Iran is not developing any covert nuclear arsenal. It has not
threatened to launch a war [...]

Part of the problem is that we’ve been victims of a campaign of systematic misdirection. Consumer culture and the capitalist mindset have taught us to substitute acts of personal consumption (or enlightenment) for organized political resistance. An Inconvenient Truth helped raise consciousness about global warming. But did you notice that all of the solutions presented [...]

What some contemporary writers and activists term the “Truth Movement” (loosely defined as those who search for truth behind government corruption) is actually an age-old phenomenon, which I refer to as the Generational Freedom Movement. I’ve written two parts of an ongoing series entitled “Heroes of the Generational Freedom Movement.” This series details, so far, two individuals I name heroes for their efforts to expose corruption. Namely: General George S Patton, and General Smedley Butler. They are both military men, but there is a reason I chose both. To read Part 1 click here. To read Part 2 click here.
