Eyes Wide Open, a love story between two Orthodox Jewish men, provoked anger at its screening

A series of controversial Israeli films are provoking outrage and plaudits in equal measure at the London Film Festival.

The best documentary award has gone to one of the year’s most controversial films.

Defamation is a polemic by Israeli filmmaker Yoav Shamir. In his expose of America’s Anti-Defamation League (ADL), he claims anti-Semitism is being exaggerated for political purposes. He argues that American Jewish leaders travel around the world exploiting the memory of the Holocaust to silence criticism of Israel.

He gets inside the ADL, which claims to be the most powerful lobby group of its type anywhere in the world. With unprecedented access, he travels with them as they meet foreign leaders, and use the memory of the Holocaust to further their pro-Israeli agenda.

At one point, an ADL leader admits to Shamir that “we need to play on that guilt”.

Shamir says his film, Defamation, started out as a study of “the political games being played behind the term anti-Semitism”.

“It became more a film about perceptions and the way Jews and Israelis choose to see themselves and define themselves – a lot of the time unfortunately choosing the role of eternal victims as a way of life.”

Israel’s national psyche

He wanted to find out how this mentality has become part of Israel’s national psyche.
The film suggests that the attitude is thrust upon children from an early age. School trips to concentration camps in Poland run year-round.

From just 500 children in the 1980s, he claims around 30,000 are now flown to Europe every year.

He discovers that the trips are not designed to educate, but to provoke an emotional reaction. They fly out of Israel euphoric, and end their journey in tears, talking about their shared hatred.

They are accompanied by secret service agents who prevent them from talking to any locals – they are led to believe that most Poles are anti-Semites.

The end result is disturbing. The victim mentality is being used to justify Israel’s occupation and colonisation of the West Bank and siege of Gaza.

In the film, one Israeli Jew tells Shamir that she refuses to get upset by Israeli aggression against the Palestinians because “we” faced worse. To her, the Holocaust justifies anything the Israeli army does.

And for Shamir, that is the real danger. “We are experiencing the most right-wing government we’ve ever had, and there is very little room for discussion. Putting so much focus on hate and the negative, I don’t see it as a healthy thing.”

In Israel, the film has received a mixed response. “It’s kind of a love or hate type of response to the film,” Shamir says. “It’s very hard to get people to come and watch documentaries in the cinemas in Israel.”

Touchy subject

In the UK, too, there is anger towards Defamation.

Mark Gardiner from one of Britain’s biggest anti-Semitism campaign groups, the Community Security Trust, believes the film could put Jews at risk.

“All of a sudden some bloke appears out of nowhere, oh he’s an Israeli, oh he’s a Jew, therefore what he says must have more credence than what organisations like my own and the ADL have said for years – I think that shows a deep-seated bias.”And he is furious at the suggestion that anti-Semitism is being used for political purposes.

“This assumption that people are saying it because they’re being malicious, because they know that it’s not anti-Semitic, but hey lets use anti-Semitism in order to win the Israel case, that’s what I find really really offensive,” Gardiner says.

Shamir is not surprised by reactions like that.

“Anti-Semitism is a very touchy subject and making a film about anti-Semitism is almost like walking on thin ice, you’re going to hurt people’s feelings.”

Martial Kurtz from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) believes the film can make a difference to activists like him.

He says all too often Israel’s supporters label groups like the PSC as anti-Semitic.

“There are many Jewish organisations which campaign [with us] against the occupation, campaign against the siege in Gaza,” he says. “So the whole argument falls flat.”

‘Rocking the boat’

Defamation is not the only controversial movie at this year’s London Film Festival.

Eyes Wide Open provoked anger and walkouts when it was screened.

It is a love story between two Orthodox Jewish men set in Jerusalem. Despite trying to keep their affair secret, the pair are threatened with violence by the community’s elders, leading to tragedy.

Director Haim Tabakman knew the film would not be easy for some Jews to watch. “This film has a provocative pitch,” he says. “Every good film is political.”

But he just wants people to face reality. “If you talk about it, it exists, so it’s not in their interests to talk about it,” he told Al Jazeera.

“It’s like the flood with Noah and his ark – the water came to destroy everything but something new came out of it. Sometimes it’s good to shake the boat.”

‘Victims of war’

Another director causing waves is Samuel Maoz, whose war film Lebanon is sparking debate inside Israel.

“You can’t change anything without first of all talking about it,” he says. “The film moves people to talk, even to argue with each other.”

Maoz’s film, which won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival in September, is based on his own experiences as his army invaded Lebanon in 1982. He says he made the film because of the guilt which still haunts him to this day.

“I’m not comparing between the suffering of a Lebanese woman who lost her family to the suffering of a soldier who fell into a no way out situation and needs to kill. If I can make some kind of scale, she is in level 10 and he is in the bottom, he is in level two. But both of them are victims of war.”

He knows words like that will cause controversy in Israel, but he is ready for the backlash.

“The army is not something holy, especially after the 2006 Lebanon war. In war itself there are no good guys and bad guys. The war is the bad guy.”

Maoz believes that Israel will only become less belligerent when civilians are shown the realities of war.

“First of all it was a need to unload and expose the war as it is, naked, without all the heroic stuff and the rest of the cliches.”

But Maoz has a bigger aim – to stop Israel launching attacks on Palestinians and Lebanese.

“Every film has its ambition to change something … the film is attacking war itself,” he says.

“Peace will come but it’s just a question of time and time is blood. If we can find a short cut we can save a lot of blood for both sides.”

So yet another Bush administration Cabinet-level official has petitioned to get his conscience and reputation back. This time, it’s Tom Ridge, former secretary of Homeland Security. The one-time Pennsylvania governor admits in a new book that he felt political pressure from the White House to issue bogus terror alerts before the 2004 presidential election.

Big surprise, right? By 2004, anybody who didn’t grasp that crying wolf was the Bush/Cheney administration’s basic game plan was probably also astonished last January when the “Texas cowboy” who’s never been seen on a horse chose a Dallas mansion over his beloved ranch. Golly, who’s doing all that brush-cutting?

Indeed, the most fascinating aspect of the Ridge revelations has been a flame war that’s broken out between establishment Washington pundits and less-reverent bloggers. The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder started it by observing in smug inside-the-Beltway fashion that he and like-minded colleagues were actually right to be wrong about fake terror warnings.

People who smelled a rat, see, “based their assumption on gut hatred for President Bush, and not on any evaluation of the raw intelligence.” Whereas, sober-sided thinkers like him credited the Bush administration’s good intentions.

Confronted with ample contemporaneous evidence of Bush administration flimflams by Salon’s Glenn Greenwald and the scholarly Marcy Wheeler of Firedoglake.com, Ambinder apologized for the “gut hatred” part. But he alibied: “Information asymmetry is always going to exist, and, living as we do in a democratic system, most journalists are going to give the government the benefit of some doubt, even having learned lessons about giving the government that benefit.”

Yeah, sure. Purely with regard to terrorism and national security, by 2004, Bush/Cheney had already gotten caught deceiving the public about having “no warning” before the 9/11 attacks, not to mention about Saddam Hussein’s nonexistent weapons of mass destruction. If skepticism was still inappropriate, would it ever be warranted?

Yet people who found the timing of terror alerts suspect, such as then-Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean, were dismissed as crackpots.

It was much the same after former Secretary of State Colin Powell confessed misgivings about his 2003 U.N. speech that stampeded the United States into an ill-advised war in Iraq. How could any serious American journalist possibly have seen that coming? Or, as your humble, obedient servant here wrote at the time, “War fever, catch it.”

This column summarized “mainstream” opinion on Feb. 12, 2003: “The allegedly ‘liberal’ Washington Post responded editorially with a one-word headline, ‘Irrefutable.’ Columnist Mary McGrory announced that despite being almost a pacifist … ‘I’m Persuaded,’ mostly by what she described as Powell’s unimpeachable integrity. Joining the stampede was New York Times columnist Bill Keller, who noted that ‘The I-Can’t-Believe-I’m-a-Hawk Club includes op-ed regulars at this newspaper and the Washington Post, the editors of the New Yorker, the New Republic and Slate, columnists in Time and Newsweek.”

And yet it was all rubbish, exactly as some of us raised on intelligence hoaxes suspected. Evidence of what I called “chicanery and fraud” in the U.S. case against Iraq was obvious to anybody unafraid to see it.

But here’s the big thing about “mainstream” journalism and what Ambinder calls “information asymmetry.” Upton Sinclair said it best: “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”

Furthermore, the safest place during a stampede is the middle of the herd. Establishment journalists with mortgages, car payments and children in private schools saw what happened to the Dixie Chicks. Why couldn’t it happen to them? (The job I got fired from that month wasn’t paying my bills.) The United States had been attacked. Feelings ran high, especially in New York and Washington.

What did it matter if we killed the wrong Arabs, so long as Arabs were being killed? In Thomas Friedman’s immortal words, “We hit Iraq because we could. That’s the real truth.”

Under oath to a Senate committee, Condi Rice told a barefaced whopper about the Aug. 6, 2001, CIA terrorism briefing that Bush blew off. Media insiders pretended not to notice. Bush made a slapstick skit of searching under his Oval Office desk for Iraqi WMDs. The press laughed on cue. He claimed that Saddam Hussein forced him to invade Iraq by expelling U.N. arms inspectors. (In reality, Bush made them leave.) Pundits praised his charm.

Long under siege for “liberal bias,” media careerists now find themselves confronted with people they see as passionate amateurs. True, fearless scrappers like my friend Joe Conason have always been around, and somebody like Paul Krugman — a world-class economist who doesn’t care what, say, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews thinks of him — can be very annoying.

But what’s really driving these jokers up the wall is economic and intellectual competition from the Internet: people with first-class minds and a passion for truth that some of them can barely remember.

August 23, 2009 The alleged crimes and abuses carried out under the Bush Administration will take centre stage today with the release of a report detailing brutal CIA interrogations, a document that could trigger criminal investigations later this week. The 2004 report, which has been suppressed until now, documents in grim detail interrogations of terror suspects at secret CIA “black site” prisons between 2002 and 2004, including mock executions, such as threatening a prisoner with a gun and power drill. The release of the report by the CIA’s former inspector general comes as Eric Holder, President Obama’s Attorney-General, is expected to make clear whether he will appoint a criminal prosecutor to investigate alleged abuse where CIA officials exceeded their legal authority. The CIA report, which is being made public after a federal judge upheld an appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union for its release, has been read by Mr Holder and will play a significant role in his decision whether to prosecute Bush-era abuses. He is also investigating several cases of detainees dying in CIA custody. Any step towards prosecuting Bush-era officials — something Mr Obama has said he is reluctant to do but which is being pushed by liberal Democrats — would provoke ferocious opposition in Congress. Other documents expected to be released today include memos that former Vice-President Dick Cheney has said prove that harsh interrogation techniques produced valuable intelligence about al-Qaeda. Mr Cheney said earlier this year that he had seen documents containing evidence that lives had been saved because of “enhanced” interrogations. If such a document emerges today the emotive debate about the effectiveness of torture will be reignited. The CIA inspector-general’s report claims that the harsh interrogation of terror suspects was ineffective, and produced no valuable intelligence. According to the report, authored by the spy agency’s former inspector general John L Helgerson, in one case interrogators brought a gun and power drill into a session with Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. The Saudi prisoner is alleged to have helped plan and carry out the deadly 2000 al-Qaeda attack on the USS Cole in Yemen, which killed 17 US sailors. He was threatened with the gun and the drill and was told he would be harmed if he did not co-operate, according to the report. In another episode, a gunshot was fired in a room next to a detainee to make the prisoner believe another suspect had been executed. It is illegal under US torture statutes to threaten a detainee with imminent death. Mr al-Nashiri was one of three detainees subjected to the technique known as waterboarding, which simulates drowning. Mr Obama has described it as torture and banned the practice. Democrats are particularly focused on Bush-era Justice Department officials who wrote legal opinions for the CIA that justified techniques including waterboarding, and who claimed that threats of imminent death were legal if they did not cause permanent mental harm. Mr al-Nashiri’s interrogation sessions were videotaped, but the tapes were destroyed by CIA officials in 2005. A federal prosecutor is now investigating the circusmtances of their destruction. It also emerged yesterday that for the first time, the Pentagon is notifying the International Committee of the Red Cross of the identities of detainees being held in two secret camps in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Red Cross has had access to the names of prisoners in nearly all the US military’s detention facilities, except for the two camps in question. They are run by US special forces and are said to hold the most dangerous alleged terror suspects captured on the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan.

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — News Corp. said Wednesday it swung to a quarterly loss on $680 million in impairment, restructuring and other charges, most of them in their Fox Interactive Media unit, as the struggling worldwide economy held a firm grip on the media conglomerate.

Chairman Rupert Murdoch said that while economic downturn may have bottomed, “there are no clear signs of a fast recovery.”

Murdoch, speaking to analysts and reporters during a conference call, said that advertising markets are showing “good signs of life” despite ongoing weakness in the automotive and financial categories.

Murdoch also said the company intends to charge for all of its news Web sites.

“Quality journalism is not cheap, and an industry that gives away its content is simply cannibalizing its ability to produce good reporting,” Murdoch said.

Chief Financial Officer Dave De Voe said Wednesday that the media company expects fiscal 2010 operating income to rise by a “high single-digit” percentage from the fiscal 2009 total of $3.44 billion.

De Voe said the company will face a number of difficult comparisons in the quarter ended Sept. 30, and that most of the media company’s growth will be seen in the three subsequent quarters.

Revenue fell 10.5% in the latest fourth quarter to $7.67 billion.

Analysts had expected News Corp. to report revenue of $7.63 billion, according to a survey conducted by Thomson Reuters.

News Corp.’s many media properties include The Wall Street Journal and MarketWatch, the publisher of this report.

The company reported an operating loss of $136 million compared with a loss of $57 million a year earlier, as Fox Interactive Media was hit by a decrease in ad revenue and higher costs related to a MySpace music venture and the launch of new features.

At News Corp.’s film and television production studios, operating income fell to $203 million from $220 million, even as revenue rose to $1.72 billion from $1.52 billion. The decline primarily reflects decreased income from the library assets of Twentieth Century Fox Television, as well as higher marketing costs.

Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey said on the call that Redbox DVD rental kiosks represent an “issue” for the entertainment conglomerate.

Part of the AP’s plan is to charge for use of its articles if you quote 5 words or more. They signed a deal with iCopyright in April last year to accomplish this goal. iCopyright is a widget that handles not only print and email, but republishing as well. Well the widget’s starting to get some attention, if only for the jaw-dropping starting price the AP is charging for quoting its stories: $2.50 per word.

The process goes like this: you copy and paste the excerpt or article you want to reprint. Next you pick your price, ranging from $12.50 for five words to $100 for 251 words or more. Here’s the price list, if you are not an educational or non-profit organization (they get a discount):

While this isn’t particularly shocking, it’s still part of a series of disturbing statements and actions the AP has taken in terms of web content.

This plan’s going in the wrong direction

Still, the entire policy is a battle against the direction of progress, and the price point is way off. Social media helps spread information faster and to more people, which is the point of a wired service like the AP. The company’s complaint is that blogs and news aggregators (i.e. Google News) are taking its content and making all the advertising revenue. What they forget is that they provide a great deal of traffic and attention to content creators in the process.

We don’t know the answer to this conundrum. But we do know that the AP’s current plan is riddled with holes. Laws protecting fair use come into play and are essential to freedom of the press. The AP really needs to define their policy on fair use vs. reprinting. It also seems obvious that no small-scale publisher is going to pay $12.50 to quote a line from an article. when quoting and linking on the web are common practice.

What is the “Truth Movement?”

What some contemporary writers and activists term the “Truth Movement” (loosely defined as those who search for truth behind government corruption) is actually an age-old phenomenon, which I refer to as the Generational Freedom Movement. I’ve written two parts of an ongoing series entitled “Heroes of the Generational Freedom Movement.” This series details, so far, two individuals I name heroes for their efforts to expose corruption. Throughout the generations, from Spartacus to the traditional Irish Republican resistance to the British Crown, there has been a spirit of rebellion against oppression inherent in the human race. Throughout these same generations, the elite of the human race have been honing their skills of oppression. For in the modern “first” world we have a mental slavery to counter the direct, violent oppression of the third world. It would seem as though those with the illusion of freedom have the stronger chains. Rebellions and armed resistance are frequent where oppression is outright, and non-existent where “freedom reigns.”

Here in the first world, where communication is key–where propaganda is almost all-encompassing–we fight an information war. We demand and use our freedom of speech like third world farmers use their AK-47’s. We change policy with our speech.

There is a genuine opposition to the power elite in these united States. I’ve been a part of it for almost twenty years, in one form or another. When the BATF fire-bombed a church in Waco, Texas, it straightened my spine like an electroshock. The public anger was palpable. Those I found who sympathized with me referred to the burgeoning numbers of truth-seekers as the “Patriot Movement.” Militias sprang up all over the country–some of us were fed up to the point of preparing for the worst, should the BATF choose to treat us the same as they did those in Waco.

After 9/11/01, the patriot movement morphed from “kooky militiamen” to a more mainstream phenomenon, simply by attrition–9/11 was so huge it was bound to cause people to open their eyes and pay attention, and those who caused 9/11 knew this would happen…

Alex Jones

During the heady, grungy days of the mid-90’s (1996 to be exact)–Alex Jones sprang up out of the woodwork in Austin, Texas, a middle class, conservative-leaning loud mouth. For a few years he plugged away at his public access TV show, and garnered a modest audience interested in his “paleo-conservative” tirades. Jones has always heavily relied on theatrics, a style which has attracted quite an audience in the post-911 era. His emotional discourse draws out similar emotions in those who listen to him.

Jones helped rebuild the burned down Waco Branch Davidian church, but there is more than enough controversy surrounding his involvement in the project. Controversy seems to follow Alex Jones wherever he goes, and after years of the same shtick, one must wonder: “why the shtick?”

I can remember listening to Alex Jones’ radio show in 2001-2002, and there were many times when Jones’ would beg for people to call in, because the lines were empty. In other words, there were long years before Jones dared claim he was the “father” of the truth movement.

Alex Jones shot to prominence by appearing to sneak into the Bohemian Grove, an occult summer camp for the global elite. But it is painfully obvious he was allowed in to consolidate his place in the emerging truth movement.

He has always used to his radio and TV shows as platforms to vilify his critics. He regularly hangs up on anyone who disagrees with him, unless of course it’s the guest on the show. He will spinelessly suck up to his guest whether they agree with him or not.

Jones’ popularity has exploded in the last three to four years. He’s always somehow managed to sneak past the “cointelpro” censors at mainstream news networks, at least enough to get an interview with someone like Geraldo Rivera on FOX, as a representative of this “truth movement.” How convenient for Alex Jones that he gets to represent the truth movement on mainstream TV news! In my experience, only controlled opposition gets a coveted interview on CONTROLLED mainstream TV news. But hey, that’s just 19-years-of-me-paying-attention speaking–no need to heed my words or anything…

Unmoderated PrisonPlanet.tv Forums: The First Movement-wide Exposure of Alex Jones’ True Colors.

In May of 2007, the un-moderated PrisonPlanet.tv forums opened to paying members of PrisonPlanet.tv. I happened to be one of the original posters in these forums. There I came in contact with a few people whom I still talk to today. One of them is a WizardofOswald.com member; one “Francis Dade.” Now Francis Dade is a southern gentleman, and he was chastised by Alex Jones live on the air, for daring to defend the anonymity of pp.tv members.

In defense of this anonymity, demanded by most pp.tv members–which was null and void if your membership ran out (in other words, your real name would appear on your posts if your account was ended)–Francis Dade called into the Alex Jones show. The forums were un-moderated, which meant we couldn’t ask a moderator to help us fix any problems we had. we tried many avenues to get Jones’ attention without success, and calling in the show seemed the only possible avenue left.

A few of the members got through to the show, only to get berated and hung up on by Jones on air. But Jones was slightly thrown off by Francis Dade’s gentlemanly manner, and decided to let him speak. Francis Dade explained the situation, and Jones’ reaction was to scream at him that this was a non-issue, and there was nothing he could do about it. Francis Dade persisted, and Jones responded by calling his internet tech live on air to tell him condescendingly to “pull” the pp.tv forums and delete everything. Needless to say, many subscriptions were canceled directly after this incident, and some have even made it their mission in life to expose Alex Jones as a money-grubbing opportunist and scam artist.

Jeff Rense

Jeff Rense of Rense.com, in stark contrast to Alex Jones, maintains a very low profile (the above photo is the only one available of him on the internet), and encourages open debate. He encourages open debate by posting links to topics other “respectable” truth sites won’t touch. The only issue Rense.com seems to hammer home is the one subject Alex Jones (and many other “leaders” of the truth movement) won’t touch: Zionism and the supposed Jewish Holocaust of World War II. Where other major sites marginalize the Revisionist Movement (which has been around for sixty years longer than the current manifestation of the truth movement), Rense.com promotes investigation of Zionists and their fairy tales.

Mike Rivero of WhatReallyHappened.com has been in the truth movement since he discovered that the Clinton Administration was responsible for the death of then-president Bill Clinton’s chief of staff Vincent Foster. Rivero worked in the special effects side of the movie industry before there were computer effects, and he has worked on many many projects which required knowledge of graphically violent situations, scenery, and forensic accuracy. Seeing the broadcasted photo of the faked suicide of Foster, and knowing it for what it was, instantly turned Rivero into an activist for the truth. He has been hard at work exposing criminals ever since.

Rivero, like Rense, is unafraid to discuss the Zionist issue. And Rivero, like Rense, has for years been accused of “anti-semitism,” which is the pet-term of the Zionists for those who oppose them.

Other Names Emerge in the Truth Movement

Mike Ruppert, the disgraced “patriot” and ex-LAPD officer who attempted to rob his own offices in a lame attempt to garner more attention and support from “truthers,” and who subsequently fled the country, under the auspices that the “government” had chased him out under threat of bodily harm…

the “Loose Change” crew. In the center is Jason Bermas, a rabid “anti-racist” who screams at, vilifies, or otherwise shuts down any critical mention of Jews when possible, even though Jews are just people, and not above criticism, just like any other group of people.

In the ensuing years since 9/11/01, other “leaders” have emerged in different sectors of the truth movement, from the extreme right to the extreme left, and to what I would term the “extreme center.”

Two of the most prominent of these emerging leaders are Jeff Rense and Mike Rivero. These two have not only consistently shown themselves to be more concerned for the truth than their popularity, but they have also shown themselves to be the bigger men in a battle which is basically screaming for accusations and name-calling. More on that in a minute…

Most of these so-called leaders, however, have not shown themselves to be as open and reliable as Jeff Rense and Mike Rivero. I may not believe half the topics discussed on Rense.com, but I am open-minded and realistic enough to not deny something I myself have not researched, and to welcome opposing opinions to mine.

The Split Appears

In mid-April of this year, a caller to the Alex Jones Show asked Jones’ stand-in–Jason Bermas of Loose Change fame–about the fact that most of the television media is owned by Jews. Bermas exploded on the caller, and claimed that all those who believe that mostly Jews “own Hollywood” should electrocute themselves by getting in a bathtub and dropping in a toaster oven, because apparently we’re all Jew-haters. Which is funny, because I would have to hate part of myself to hate Jews, and I hate none of myself…

Texe Marrs, who has been a guest on the Alex Jones show for years, wrote an article about the incident, in which he stated about Bermas: “Quite a rampage by the supposedly “patriot” talk show host. And all because the poor caller had dared to propose undue Jewish influence over the media.”

Jeff Rense linked to Marrs’ article on Rense.com. Being that the article was obviously critical of Alex Jones, Jones flipped out and threatened to sue Jeff Rense and everyone else who criticizes him. Watch the following video clip:

Rense was fired from (or left) the Genesis Communications Network, which broadcasts many “patriot” radio shows, including the Alex Jones Show and the Jack Blood Show, some time in late March/early April.  Rense and Jones had an as yet unspecified fallout, and Jones’ pull is obviously what got Rense fired.

Brother Nathaniel Kapner of RealZionistNews.com

At the end of March, Brother Nathaniel Kapner of RealZionistNews.com wrote an article entitled “Is Alex Jones a Zionist Shill? Controversy Swirls” which was obviously critical of Jones. Kapner has emerged as a force in his own right within the truth movement since being linked to by Rense.com.

These two incidents have caused a fracture in the truth movement which is irreparable. Among those who have been involved in this movement for a long time (especially those who remember William Cooper), Jeff Rense is far more respected than Alex Jones. Alex Jones remains the best at drawing in audiences within the truth movement, however, with constant promotion of all sorts, including free promotion from rabid fans who pass out his DVDs, bumper stickers, and message on street corners and malls around the country.

The Death of Bill Cooper

William Cooper was a hero of the patriot movement of the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 1991, Cooper wrote what I still consider to be the definitive book relating to the current truth movement, entitled Behold a Pale Horse. His short wave radio show “Hour of the Time” aired for years, and encouraged thousands of others like myself to become more active in the future of these united States.

In June of 2001, Bill Cooper predicted the terrorist events of September 11th, 2001. In July of 2001, Alex Jones, who obviously listened to Bill Cooper’s show, but denies it to this day, also claimed he had “intel” that within a couple months of July terrorists would strike New York City. Bill Cooper watched the news and put two and two together, coming up with 4. Alex Jones, by contrast, had “intel” that bin Laden would strike. Coincidence?

Bill Cooper Exposes Alex Jones as a Shill, and Dies 7 Weeks Later

On November 5th, 2001, Cooper was killed by undercover sheriff’s deputies in Arizona about 7 weeks after EXPOSING ALEX JONES AS A FRAUD, and almost two months after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01,

Cooper had listened to Alex Jones’ broadcast on December 31st, 1999, and decided Alex Jones was controlled opposition. He spent months putting the audio clips of the Jones show together for his expose. Between Jones’ “Y2K show” and the subsequent interviews he gave that night and the next day, it became painfully obvious to Cooper that Jones was a scaremonger and opportunist, not to mention an outright liar.

Bill Cooper’s death coincidentally paved the way for Alex Jones’ ensuing career success. Am I saying Alex Jones was involved in Cooper’s death? No, but I’m also not saying he wasn’t. I don’t know one way or the other–I just know it was extremely convenient for Jones’ career that Cooper died…

Zionism Versus the German Death Cult

So who has more influence in this country? An elusive Germanic Death Cult, with whom the only possible people to blame are the “front men” in government and corporations, or a zionist elite which pervades every aspect of the supposed Germanic death cult and more?

According to Jones, the world is controlled by a loose series of occult secret societies, which at some miraculous point in the future will all agree on one world government. But the problem is, if there’s no real cohesion between the New World Order affiliates, then to whom, and how and when are they going to decide to all of a sudden relinquish their hard-earned power? If there is no one to point to at the very top, then there is no one to point to at all. Those government and corporate “front men” Jones refers to could never be held truly responsible for their crimes if there is always an elusive superior who gave the order.

A serious look at US history will show even the dilettante a pattern of Zionists who pretend to be Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Republican, Democrat, American–anything but the creatures they are: godless zionist thugs. The fact that most of the banks, media, food manufacturing companies and social services in this country are owned and controlled by Zionists masquerading as upstanding Jews and Christians seems to have no effect upon the opinion of Alex Jones or Jason Bermas. They still claim the country is controlled by “death cults,” and Alex Jones has even claimed that “Hollywood is owned by the Arabs,” the notion of which Jew Ben Stein (and many others) laugh at.

One of the hallmarks of oppression is controlled opposition. This entails injecting your man into your opposition, to be able to control that opposition. If you pay someone to spread false information, the chances of cohesive action against your plan disintegrates. Zionists are masters of playing both sides, as evinced through the Israelis’ mostly phony war with Hamas, which they played a major part in creating.

Zionism Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry

This fracture in the truth movement between the anti-zionists and the Alex Jones automatons was building gradually for a few years until Bermas blew the issue wide open on Alex Jones’ show in April. Since then the fracture has become a fissure, and the fissure will soon become a gulf.

Jones wishes to recruit every new possible “truther” into his “cointelpro” “zionism equals anti-semitism” world before they can search a little deeper into the non-moneyed world to discover the zionist beast. But with his money, duped from starry-eyed patriots who foolishly trust him to spend it on the “cause,” Jones has promoted himself and his scare-mongering, not the truth. He has proven himself the most skittish of mice, and has separated himself from the men with his ultimate treachery: the sacrilege of twisting the truth into a profit.

And while Alex Jones cries and moans and attempts to sue everyone on the planet who criticizes him, the two other major players in the truth movement–Jeff Rense and Mike Rivero–remain reticent in the face of conflict. Jeff Rense simply issued a humble statement regarding the issue, and Rivero looked the other way, wisely seeing it as a worthless distraction. Rivero still links to Jones’ material and appears as a guest on the Alex Jones Show, and has not made public (to my knowledge) his opinion on the matter..

But to those of us who don’t have the big names, and who live in the trenches of the battle for truth every day, the split widens, and the balance is coming over to our side. Alex Jones is now seeing his control slide away, and good riddance.

Zionism, with all of its different manifestations and evil, has lost its impervious way. The internet has shown its tactics the door, and now that the proverbial cat is out of the bag, the zionists are all a-fluster. Their time-honored tactics no longer avail them; in fact, their tactics now expose their true methods rather than covering them up.

Zionism’s controlled opposition to the truth movement has failed. They are desperate to regain the field, and I’m afraid they’ll do anything they believe will regain it. This is a dangerous time to be for the truth, but I will leave you with one final thought:

The crisis over the Iranian election has been our lead story for most of the week. As with all our coverage, we have been careful to report what both Ahmadinejad and Mousavi supporters are saying. Similarly, we have taken care to label the pictures we use, explaining what they are of.

However, on Wednesday 17 June we made a mistake in a picture caption published on BBC News online. In the story Obama refuses to ‘meddle’ in Iran, we mistakenly stated that a Getty agency picture of a pro-Ahmadinejad rally was a pro-Mousavi rally.

Some blogs, including WhatReallyhappened.com, are pointing out that the LA Times used a similar photograph which showed President Ahmadinejad waving to supporters. The Getty pictures we received did not show Mr Ahmadinejad.

When a reader contacted us about it, we checked our caption and corrected it. We’re sorry for the mistake and have added a note explaining the correction to the story.

Adam Yahiye Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, is seen in an earlier al Qaeda video.

In the video, Adam Yahiye Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, discusses his roots as he castigates U.S. policies and deplores Israel’s offensive in Gaza that started in late December 2008 and continued into January.

“Let me here tell you something about myself and my biography, in which there is a benefit and a lesson,” Gadahn says, as he elicits support from his fellow Muslims for “our weapons, funds and Jihad against the Jews and their allies everywhere.”

“Your speaker has Jews in his ancestry, the last of whom was his grandfather,” he says.

Growing up in rural California, Gadahn embraced Islam in the mid-1990s, moved to Pakistan and has appeared in al Qaeda videos before.

He was indicted in the United States in 2006 on charges of treason and material support to al Qaeda, according to the FBI. Gadahn is on the FBI’s Most Wanted List, with a reward of up to $1 million leading to his capture. FBI records show Gadahn’s date of birth as September 1, 1978.

The video — in which Gadahn speaks Arabic, with English subtitles — surfaced on Saturday. This account is based on an English transcript provided by As-Sahab Media, the media production company used by al Qaeda.

Gadahn’s Jewish ancestry has been reported in the news media. But terrorism analyst Laura Mansfield says it is the first time Gadahn acknowledged his Jewish ancestry in an official al Qaeda message.

Gadahn says his grandfather was a “Zionist” and “a zealous supporter of the usurper entity, and a prominent member of a number of Zionist hate organizations.”

“He used to repeat to me what he claimed are the virtues of this entity and encouraged me to visit it, specifically the city of Tel Aviv, where relatives of ours live,” says Gadahn, referring to Israel.

He says his grandfather gave him a book by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called “A Place Among the Nations” — in which the “rabid Zionist” sets out “feeble arguments and unmasked lies to justify the Jews’ rape of Muslim Palestine.”

But Gadahn says that despite his youth at the time, he didn’t heed his grandfather’s words.

“How can a person with an ounce of self-respect possibly stand in the ranks of criminals and killers who have no morals, no mercy, no humanity and indeed, no honor?” he says in reference to Zionists and Israel.

“Isn’t it shameful enough for a person to carry the citizenship of America, the symbol of oppression and tyranny and advocate of terror in the world?”

Mansfield thinks the video may have been made between late April and mid-May, before President Obama’s speech in Cairo, Egypt, addressing U.S. relations with Muslims.

Gadahn notes Obama’s inauguration, Netanyahu’s election in February, and Obama’s speech in Turkey in April.

Specifically mentioning the Gaza offensive and citing other hot spots such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and Somalia, where the “Zio-Crusader alliance” is fighting his “brothers,” he says “this open-faced aggression” comes as Obama has risen to power.

He scorns Obama’s statements in his inaugural address and in Turkey that America isn’t and won’t be at war with Islam, and “other deceptive, false and sugarcoated words of endearment and respect.” He says Obama’s language is similar to words Netanyahu uttered in the Knesset in 1996.

Gadahn also backs the idea of targeting “Zio-Crusader” interests anywhere in the world, not just “within Palestine.”

Last week, President Obama delivered a sorrow-filled and remorseful address in Poland, at one of those supposed World War II “death camps” the Nazis ran. Zionist-written history aside, Obama stressed at one point in the speech that there was an epidemic of “holocaust deniers” in the U.S. and on the internet. CNN then spent the next ten minutes talking to Jewish “experts” on “holocaust denial,” of course without having ONE dissenting opinion. That’s what I call open debate!

Yesterday, a guy who has claimed to be a white supremacist for decades, but doesn’t seem to know anyone except through the internet (one of these people he happened to be in contact with was John De Nugent-a recognized leader of the white separatist movement), walks into the Washington D.C. holohoax museum and blows away, not a JEW, but a BLACK security guard. No jews have died, yet it is being treated by the mainstream press like a new holocaust. That alone should give you some insight into the supposed hollowhoax of World War II. They’ll just pretend any old thing is a holocaust.

Glen Beck, the crybaby-for-ratings who in March of this year flip flopped more times in one day regarding FEMA concentration camps than a stack of flapjacks, then gets up on his show and claims that this nutcase was a “hero” of the 911 truth movement.

HAHAHAHA Stop it, you dilettante! No one in the “911 truth community” had even heard of von Brunn until he was plastered all over news channels like yours! This lie is just a little over the top, you worm. How in God’s name do you sleep at night? Do you tuck your 50 million dollar Fox contract under your pillow to collect your tears of guilt?

Within two hours of the shooting, CNN had a full 3D diagram of the entire holohoax museum complex, complete with Jewish representatives of the museum, IN THE STUDIO! Gee, how on Earth did that ever happen? I have worked in the 2D and 3D graphics fields, and I happen to know that you can’t create an accurate 3D map of an entire multi-acre complex in an hour and a half. Was there a shuttle at the museum to take the “witnesses” straight to the TV studio? Give me a break…

Then the U.S. media starts plastering twenty year old photos of von Brunn all over the place, when the guy’s about to keel over from old age and what appears to be alchoholism from the recent photos.

Why were Obama and CNN going on and on about “holocaust deniers?” And why has this shooting of a black man by a senile old man been made out to be an attack against jews?

If von Brunn were part of a white supremacist organization as he’s being made out to be, where the hell is the rest of his so-called movement? Backing him up from the internet?

The answer is that this incident is just too convenient to be a coincidence. My prediction is that von Brunn will turn out to be a Manchurian Candidate, just like Sirhan Sirhan and many others. There will be a history of pysch drugs and mental institutions.

This thing looked more staged than 911 to me. I guess time will tell…

Secretary of State Says US or “Some Other Enemy” May Launch First Strike Against Iran

Citing the disastrous 2003 US invasion of Iraq as an example, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today warned that by continuing to refuse to abandon its civilian nuclear program, Iran was risking the possibility of an invasion by the US or “some other enemy that would do that to them.”

The comments came during an interview on ABC’s “This Week” program, and when asked by interviewer and former Clinton-era official George Stephanopoulus, Secretary Clinton reiterated “that’s right, as a first strike.”

The bulk of the interview emphasized US opposition to the Iranian program, along with unquestioned claims that the nation was pursuing nuclear weapons. Secretary Clinton also extended the American nuclear umbrella over Israel in the event that Iran attacked them.

Considering it was no more than 72 hours ago that President Obama made his historic call for a “new beginning” to US relations with the Muslim world, it seems incredible that his administration is already raising the prospect of an Iraq-style invasion of Iran.

Already six years in, the Iraq occupation has killed thousands of US soldiers, sucked trillions from the American economy, and is stretching the military to its limits. It is unfathomable that with this war still far from over, the Obama Administration is considering an Iraq redux in its larger neighbor to the east.
