Dear Mr. President:

According to press reports, you intend to decide between November 7 and November 11 whether or not to send tens of thousands of American soldiers to Afghanistan. We are writing in advance of that decision to add our voice to those of Sen. Feingold, many House Democrats, and of a clear majority of Americans in urging you not to escalate this war, but rather to announce an immediate cease-fire followed by a withdrawal of all US troops in the fastest way consistent with the safety of our forces. We urge you to end the policy of using Predator drones to assassinate Pakistani civilians on the territory of their own country, in defiance of all concepts of international law. We also call upon you to cease all covert CIA and Pentagon operations in Afghanistan,
Pakistan, and Iran.

No vital American interest is at stake in Afghanistan. Former Marine and State Department official Matthew Hoh is right: the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan have come to be viewed as invaders and occupiers, and the resistance they encounter has nothing to do with international terrorism. This war is futile, and now doomed to failure. There is no military solution to the problems that beset Afghanistan. Afghanistan and the rest of this tragically war-torn region need a Marshall Plan of peaceful economic development, through which some of the 15 million unemployed workers in our own country could find productive jobs. We have no confidence in the advice being given to you by military leaders like Gen. McChrystal, who has been implicated in torture in Iraq.

We supported your candidacy because we viewed you as the best chance for ending the wars of the Bush era. We applauded your rejection of the rhetoric of fear and division that was the stock in trade of Bush and Cheney. We are alarmed by the way that rhetoric has crept into your public pronouncements since your August address in Phoenix. Your decision on Afghanistan will represent the decisive turning point of your presidency. If you turn away from war, you will provide a profile in courage that will solidify your support and open up a new perspective for progressive reforms in our country. You will honor the spirit of John F. Kennedy, who was searching for an exit strategy from the Vietnam war. If you opt for a wider war, the resulting heavy casualties will destroy confidence in your leadership among your own most devoted advocates. Hundreds of billions of dollars will be poured down a rat hole, and will no longer be available for any reform and renovation of American society, which will increasingly fall behind the economic strength of other countries. Your domestic agenda will be halted, in the same way your predecessor Lyndon B. Johnson was crippled by the Vietnam war. Escalation of the Afghan war, in short, would be an act of political suicide for you, and of national suicide for our country.

We are keenly aware of the difficulties and animosities you face, and we have long done everything possible to give your administration the benefit of the doubt, even in the face of repeated disappointments. But we now approach the moment of truth: will you be a great progressive president, or will you prove too weak to turn away from the bankrupt policies institutionalized and entrenched under Bush and Cheney. Therefore, we want you to know our attitude before you decide on the proposed Afghan escalation. If you choose to escalate, we will oppose this policy with all the energy we possess. We will act to mobilize the largest possible anti-war demonstration in Washington DC and other cities before the end of 2009, and continuously thereafter. We will support anti-war candidates of any party in the 2010 elections. If you are still waging the Afghan war in 2011, we will be forced to seriously consider backing an explicitly anti-war primary candidate to challenge you during the Democratic primaries.

We therefore respectfully urge you to act in the spirit of your 2008 campaign – the spirit of hope and change, neither of which can survive the continuation or expansion of the hopeless Afghan war.

Traitors on a Plane

1. I’ve had it being Mr. Nice Mantiq al-Tayr. These United States are permeated with traitors who pretend to be part of our society but whose loyalties lie elsewhere; said fact being a cause of tremendous damage to this country. No, I’m not talking about the likes of the absolute fraud bull-shitter lying pretend and extremely bigoted Zionist war-mongering fake orientalist David Gaubatz who claims he knows Arabic because he attended classes at the Foreign Service Institute. More on this paranoid loon in a later post.

I’m talking instead about the likes of traitor  Tsvi Mark who recently completed his first year at West Point. He then got on a plane with 237 other traitors from North American countries and flew off to Israel. He did so in order to join an “elite” unit (the Hebrew word for “elite” means “really good at murdering Palestinians”) in the Israeli military. On that very same plane, over 50 others, at least, were going right into the Israeli military.  It appears that almost all of the  passengers were on the plane in order to “make aliya” (Hebrew for “to betray your country”) to Israel and thus become Israeli citizens. And you get to help pay for it. Keep reading.

This story is just so rich it really had the tuyuur here at Mantiq al-Tayr scratching their feathers trying to figure out which nuggets about these traitors to bring to your attention and which ones to just let you read about on the links included in this article.

Screw it.  Let’s have some fun as we go board the Ship of Israeli Traitors (SHIT). Go get  your favorite beverage and come back and have a seat. It should be a great ride.

As for Joseph Mandelbaum, it turns out that “Intellectual Property” is part of American Greetings Corporation and works to market their worthless products to you goyim out there. Please see this link and boycott the goods mentioned there too.

No doubt all you home schoolers out there will be thrilled to know that young children also were brainwashed given an opportunity to participate in betraying the United States. This will be good practice for when they grow up and can finish the job that’s already well under way.

This charter plane featured the winning logo of the Nefesh B’Nefesh and BabagaNewz.com, an educational website for Jewish middle-schoolers and teachers, ‘Destination Israel’ logo design contest, which encouraged students in Grades 4–7 to create an aliyah plane logo. The winning entry, . . ., was painted on the side of this flight.

What the fuck happened to Palestine? Yes indeed, little Jewish children are being taught that there is no Palestine while at the same time they are being taught to be traitors to the United States. Go look at the photo of the plane at the top of this post and you’ll see the picture on it.

And maybe that is why Tsvi Mark had this to say about his betrayal of the United States:

“I had always wanted to join the U.S. army and train at West Point, but once I was there I realized that what I really wanted was to go home, to our land, our people, and our army.”

Yes, this future child killer might also even get a chance to kill some of his fellow West Pointers. Israel likes to kill graduates of America’s service academies. Just ask any of the USS Liberty Survivors.

But it gets worse. Much worse. Let’s learn a little more about Tsvi Mark and about an on-going large scale operation whose goal is to create traitors.

Tsvi Mark, 20, spent last year as a student at West Point. The Silver Spring resident, a former student at the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, says he decided in his senior year to attend either the Army service academy or its Navy equivalent at Annapolis. (His father had been a career U.S. Air Force officer, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.)

Before little Tsvi went to West Point he went to a terrorist training camp – oops, I meant to say he went to traitor recruitment program in Israel. If you say “What’s the difference?” you’ll get no argument here.

However, he decided to spend a year in Israel before entering college and spent 2007-08 in a mechina (religious military preparation) program on Moshav Avne Etan, a cooperative agricultural community in the Golan Heights. While there, he “began to think of the IDF as an option,” Mark says.

So before he goes off to West Point he spends a year in a “religious military preparation” program in a foreign country – Syria. That’s right. The Golan Heights are Syrian territory occupied and settled (illegally) by Israel. That’s how he spent his time in Israel, occupying Syrian territory. Could you imagine if he’d been Muslim and did something like this?  But it gets worse.

“During the second semester, I decided that if I was not at West Point, I wanted to be in Israel,” says Mark, who took the Aug. 3 NBN flight. Like others interviewed, Mark praised NBN — which assists new immigrants to Israel from North American and Great Britain with paperwork, offers grants, serves as a liaison with government agencies once they arrive and provides career counseling — for easing the process.

NBN is short for the Nefesh B’Nefesh organization that exists solely for the purpose of creating traitors. More on them further down. How nice of them to help with money and jobs for well-to-do American Jews who want to go kill Palestinians. Donations to Nefesh B’Nefesh are also tax-deductible even though it is indistinguishable from being an outright Israeli intelligence operation. It is even “deputized to utilize a portable passport control scanner for the Israel Border Police.”

But it gets worse.

Let’s finish up with Tsvi Traitor Mark. It looks like he’s just going to be fine.

Mark is slated to spend the next several months on Kibbutz Tiryat Tzvi in the Garin Tsabar program, which helps prepare soldiers without families in Israel for the IDF.

He hopes to be accepted into the Golani Brigade, an elite infantry unit, when he begins his service in November and to be selected for the officer training program.

Afterward, he plans to study business or international relations at an Israeli university.

The Garin Tsabar program is “a programme that recruits foreign Jews for the Israel Defence Forces.”

Are you starting to notice that there seems to be a hell of a lot of Israeli programs aimed at getting people to betray the United States? Garin Tsabar even reaches down into cute little camps for Jewish kids in Texas. Goys and girls, let’s a take a side trip just for a second to Camp Young Judea in Wimberly,  Texas.

Here’s a few fun quotes from various parts of their website. (Yes, I know I’m digressing, but bear with me. It’s  not like you have a plane to Israel to catch. So sit down and keep drinking. You’ll need to.)

Here’s an interesting reference from the Camp’s March, 2005 newsletter which just happens to mention Garin Tsabar.

“Several times a year a group gets together to organize and send letters and packages to these young men and women. The project currently serves about 150 English speaking soldiers who are either Young Judaea graduates, part of Garin Tsabar (American/Israeli Scouts who come to serve in the army) and others who have found the warmth of Merkaz Hamagshimim.”

Nice to see that Camp graduates go off to join the Israeli military. Such a nice little camp.

They have a lovely scholarship fund and, of course, all donations are tax-deductible.

“Each year the Young Judaea Scholarship Fund allows youth of all ages to learn about Israel and their Jewish identity by helping families to finance summer and year-round YJ activities. In 2004, through the generosity of many families, TOL Young Judaea distributed $45,100.00!”

Wanna go to Israel?

Still, I must give people like Bill Moyers, Keith Olbermann and Rachael Maddow credit, where credit is due.  But sometimes I wonder how much longer we will have even an iota of what little ‘journalistic integrity’ is left on our television sets and radios.  That is why the below story caught my eye.

J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. are also among radio stations’ leading lenders.

Goldman Sachs and other lenders just swapped debt for 85% of Nassau Broadcasting Partners LP’s equity. Nassau operates 51 radio stations along the East Coast. Nassau had to put its Cape Cod, Mass., stations into a separate company, because Goldman has another radio investment in Cape Cod and didn’t want its stake to cause a conflict with the FCC.

Throw companies like Tribune into the mix where JP Morgan will allegedly end up with an majority equity stake, and one wonders why Goldman and JPM were so eager to provide “rescue” financings to virtually the entire distressed media space: both companies knew too well that sooner or later they would end up with full equity control over essentially the most coveted industry: thousands of TV stations, radio channels, newspaper and magazines. If you thought the media propaganda was unbearable now, just wait. Nonetheless, one doubts that much will be made by the FCC of JP Morgan’s or Goldman Sachs’ stealthily encroaching control of the entire media world. After all, they already pretty much already control the airwaves. This way their domination of the 4th estate and the idiot tube will soon be complete.

Alas, all these funds operate primarily out of their offshore accounts. So while they just now start the long, hard process of convincing the FCC they have nothing but the best P&L intentions, Goldman and JPM, or better known as the Treasury and the Fed, will have long cemented their controlling stakes in a streamlined, deleveraged media industry.

Somehow I doubt very seriously if the FCC will need ‘much’ convincing, but is certainly does not bode well for our country. Every day, the media gets more inane.  So I thought since Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan will be our new ‘media masters’ in the upcoming months – perhaps we should do a small review of what they have accomplished to date:

The banks that almost brought the world economy to collapse but then received massive public largesse because they were “too big to fail” are now bigger than ever; as The Washington Post delicately put it: “The crisis may be turning out very well for many of the behemoths that dominate U.S. finance.” Everything involving the government turns out well for these “behemoths” because they own and control the U.S. Government. Just this week, The Post detailed how the government and Wall St. are now so intertwined that banking executives are spending vast resources to increase their presence in Washington:

As previously documented, Goldman Sachs itself has a virtual lock on the top Treasury positions no matter which party is in power. The vaunted bipartisan “Baucus plan” was literally written by a Baucus aide who just left her position as Vice President of Wellpoint to write the health care reform plan for the Senate — a revelation which barely caused a ripple. And the Supreme Court is on the verge of striking down the few limits on corporate involvement in our politics, a ruling which may (or may not be) constitutionally defensible but which will flood American politics with so much corporate money that it will give new meaning to the term “oligarchy.”

So with this massive pillaging of America’s economic security and the control of American government by its richest and most powerful factions growing by the day, to whom is America’s intense economic anxiety being directed?

Here is how Goldman Sachs started ‘taking over our country’:

Consider below a simple time line from one of the strangest periods our financial markets had ever experienced. As you read it, keep in mind that following the demise of Bear Stearns, the strictest interpretation of the so-called investment bank “Bulge Bracket” included just four entities: Goldman Sachs (GS), Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley (MS).

* September 9: The short attack on Lehman Brothers begins in earnest.
* September 14: The New York Times (NYT) reports Lehman will file bankruptcy.
* September 15: Goldman Sachs share price begins to wilt. Merrill Lynch announces it will be sold to Bank of America.
* September 17: Goldman Sachs’ share price continues to plummet. The SEC announces “new rules to protect investors against naked short selling abuses”.
* September 18: Goldman Sachs’ share price continues to plummet.
* September 19: The SEC “halts short selling of financial stocks to protect investors and markets”.  Goldman Sachs’ share price posts a strong gain.
* September 22: Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, the two remaining members of the “Bulge Bracket” announce their intentions to transition to bank holding companies, giving them access to lending facilities of the US Federal Reserve (an organization with which Goldman has an uncommonly tight relationship).

The most interesting event to come of that most eventful period may have been the SEC’s September 19 ban on legitimate short selling. What makes it so enigmatic is the fact that not even the most vocal opponents of illegal naked short selling have ever even hinted at the need to restrict legitimate shorting. In fact, Patrick Byrne himself compared the ban to limiting motorists to making only right-hand turns. Here is a theory that might explain what was going on.

An examination of the volume of both naked and legitimate shorting of Goldman Sachs in September of 2008 reveals something very interesting: while there was an enormous amount of short selling taking place, there was essentially no naked shorting of Goldman shares. Indeed, short selling accounted for a third of total volume on September 15 and 16, while failed trades accounted for less than 0.07%, suggesting shortable Goldman shares were in abundant supply.  This conclusion is supported by an analysis of the stock loan rebate rate that prevailed for Goldman shares during the period in question: a very reliable indicator of the scarcity of shares available for short sellers to borrow, where a lower rebate rate indicates a more limited supply.

In 1996, a car crashed in the town of Susurluk, in Turkey.

The car contained a top police chief and a top politician.

The car also contained a man called Abdullah Çatli, who was a drug trafficker and contract killer with links to fascism and the CIA’s Operation Gladio.

In 1998 the magazine Monde Diplomatique alleged that Abdullah Çatli organized the 1981 attempt to assassinate the Pope, “in exchange for the sum of 3 million German mark”

In 1989, Catli was on Interpol’s ‘most wanted’ list.

In 1989, Catli was able to travel to the USA, be granted residency, settle in Chicago, and continued to conduct his operations.

According to Cengiz Candar, “Susurluk revealed weird connections between state officials and those who operate outside the limits of the law. It happened at a time when we had a lot of extra-judicial killings in Turkey.”

Sibel Edmonds

Sibel Edmonds, as a translator for the FBI, translated recordings of conversations between suspected Turkish intelligence agents and various Americans.

She was concerned that one of her fellow translators, Can Dickerson, was a member of the American-Turkish Council, a Turkish group being investigated for:

A. Bribing top government officials and members of Congress
B. Drug trafficking
C. Illegal weapons sales
D. Money laundering
E. Nuclear proliferation.

Sibel was sacked from the FBI in April 2002 after she raised her concerns.

She was shocked that no effort was made to deal with the corruption that she had come across.

A Department of Justice inspector general’s report called Edmonds’s allegations ‘credible.’

Two ranking Senate Judiciary Committee members backed her.

‘60 Minutes’ found her claims believable.

John Ashcroft’s Justice Department gagged her.

In August 2009, she was able to testify under oath in a court case in Ohio.

Marc Grossman

The 1 November 2009 Issue of The American Conservative has an article entitled: Who’s Afraid of Sibel Edmonds?

This article covers the evidence Edmonds gave in court in August 2009.

Among the points made:

1. Members of Congress and US government employees were giving information to foreign agents. Sibel Edmonds provided names and details.

One person identified was Marc Grossman, then the third highest-ranking official at the State Department.

While Grossman had been U.S. ambassador to Turkey (1994-97), he reportedly became involved with Turkish government operatives and with suspected criminal groups.

He also had ’suspicious’ contact with Israelis.

Reportedly, Grossman was involved in the ‘Susurluk’ scandal which involved top criminals and top army and intelligence officers with whom he had been in contact.

The gangster who was killed in the 1996 Susurluk scandal was Abdullah Catli.

But Catli, in 1989, was able to travel to the USA, be granted residency, settle in Chicago, and continued to conduct his operations.

Air Force Major Douglas Dickerson worked for Grossman in Turkey. Later he went to work for Douglas Feith; and his wife Can Dickerson was hired as an FBI Turkish translator.

2. According to Edmonds:

A. Grossman, at the State Department, continued to assist his Turkish and Israeli contacts.

B. Grossman helped certain people to gain access to members of Congress such as Tom Lantos.

C. Israel, Turkey and Pakistan ended up receiving US defence information.

3. According to Edmonds:

A. officials at the Pentagon, such as Richard Perle and Douglas Feith, were also involved.

B. Perle and Feith would give to Grossman the names and personal details of certain officials in the Pentagon.

C. Grossman was being paid for his services.

D. Feith and Perle had a relationship with Kissinger’s group, with Northrop Grumman, with former secretary of state James Baker’s group, and with former national security adviser Brent Scowcroft.

4. According to Edmonds:

In the summer of 2001, 4 months before 9 11, the FBI monitoring of the Turks revealed contacts with Feith, Wolfowitz, and Perle.

These people had discussions with the Turkish ambassador in Washington.

The subject of the discussions was a deal whereby the U.S. would invade Iraq.

The UK would take the south.

The USA would take the rest.

The Turks wanted to take the Kurdish region.

Scowcroft and Baker had consulting firms doing business with Turkey.

Scowcroft, Baker, Richard Armitage (deputy Secretary of State), and Grossman became involved in negotiations with Turkey.

Scowcroft wanted Iraq invaded in 2001, assuming his friend Turkey would be given a good deal.

Wolfowitz.

5. According to Edmonds:

Turkish agents had a network of Turkish professors in US universities.

Turkish students would be placed in various US nuclear facilities and some were able to work for the US Air Force.

Grossman could ensure security clearance.

Information gained by the students could be sold for example to the Saudis.

6. This corruption also involved Congress.

According to Edmonds:

The FBI was looking at Bob Livingston, Dan Burton, Dennis Hastert, Tom Lantos and Jan Schakowsky.

Turkish agents found out that Jan Schakowsky was bisexual.

A Turkish agent began a relationship with her.

7. Edmonds saw conversations that suggested US agents were supporting al-Qaeda in central Asia and the Balkans, and that this contact continued until 9/11.

According to Edmonds:

These conversations, between 1997 and 2001, involved various bin Ladens, managed by US agents.

Marc Grossman was in charge.

Various bin Ladens, plus guns and drugs, travelled on NATO planes.

NATO planes took some of the drugs to Belgium. Drugs then went to the UK.

A lot of drugs were transported on military planes to the USA.

8. According to Edmonds, corrupt Chicago is central to Obama’s administration.

The Turkish criminals have Chicago as the centre of their operation.

Americans cannot get any truth out of their government about anything, the economy included. Americans are being driven into the ground economically, with one million school children now homeless, while Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke announces that the recession is over.

The spin that masquerades as news is becoming more delusional. Consumer spending is 70% of the US economy. It is the driving force, and it has been shut down. Except for the super rich, there has been no growth in consumer incomes in the 21st century. Statistician John Williams of shadowstats.comreports that real household income has never recovered its pre-2001 peak.

The US economy has been kept going by substituting growth in consumer debt for growth in consumer income. Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan encouraged consumer debt with low interest rates. The low interest rates pushed up home prices, enabling Americans to refinance their homes and spend the equity. Credit cards were maxed out in expectations of rising real estate and equity values to pay the accumulated debt. The binge was halted when the real estate and equity bubbles burst.

As consumers no longer can expand their indebtedness and their incomes are not rising, there is no basis for a growing consumer economy. Indeed, statistics indicate that consumers are paying down debt in their efforts to survive financially. In an economy in which the consumer is the driving force, that is bad news.

The banks, now investment banks thanks to greed-driven deregulation that repealed the learned lessons of the past, were even more reckless than consumers and took speculative leverage to new heights. At the urging of Larry Summers and Goldman Sachs’ CEO Henry Paulson, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bush administration went along with removing restrictions on debt leverage.

When the bubble burst, the extraordinary leverage threatened the financial system with collapse. The US Treasury and the Federal Reserve stepped forward with no one knows how many trillions of dollars to “save the financial system,” which, of course, meant to save the greed-driven financial institutions that had caused the economic crisis that dispossessed ordinary Americans of half of their life savings.

The consumer has been chastened, but not the banks. Refreshed with the TARP $700 billion and the Federal Reserve’s expanded balance sheet, banks are again behaving like hedge funds. Leveraged speculation is producing another bubble with the current stock market rally, which is not a sign of economic recovery but is the final savaging of Americans’ wealth by a few investment banks and their Washington friends. Goldman Sachs, rolling in profits, announced six figure bonuses to employees.

The rest of America is suffering terribly.

The unemployment rate, as reported, is a fiction and has been since the Clinton administration. The unemployment rate does not include jobless Americans who have been unemployed for more than a year and have given up on finding work. The reported 10% unemployment rate is understated by the millions of Americans who are suffering long-term unemployment and are no longer counted as unemployed. As each month passes, unemployed Americans drop off the unemployment role due to nothing except the passing of time.

The inflation rate, especially “core inflation,” is another fiction. “Core inflation” does not include food and energy, two of Americans’ biggest budget items. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) assumes, ever since the Boskin Commission during the Clinton administration, that if prices of items go up consumers substitute cheaper items. This is certainly the case, but this way of measuring inflation means that the CPI is no longer comparable to past years, because the basket of goods in the index is variable.

The Boskin Commission’s CPI, by lowering the measured rate of inflation, raises the real GDP growth rate. The result of the statistical manipulation is an understated inflation rate, thus eroding the real value of Social Security income, and an overstated growth rate. Statistical manipulation cloaks a declining standard of living.

In bygone days of American prosperity, American incomes rose with productivity. It was the real growth in American incomes that propelled the US economy.

In today’s America, the only incomes that rise are in the financial sector that risks the country’s future on excessive leverage and in the corporate world that substitutes foreign for American labor. Under the compensation rules and emphasis on shareholder earnings that hold sway in the US today, corporate executives maximize earnings and their compensation by minimizing the employment of Americans.

Try to find some acknowledgement of this in the “mainstream media,” or among economists, who suck up to the offshoring corporations for grants.

The worst part of the decline is yet to come. Bank failures and home foreclosures are yet to peak. The commercial real estate bust is yet to hit. The dollar crisis is building.

When it hits, interest rates will rise dramatically as the US struggles to finance its massive budget and trade deficits while the rest of the world tries to escape a depreciating dollar.

Since the spring of this year, the value of the US dollar has collapsed against every currency except those pegged to it. The Swiss franc has risen 14% against the dollar. Every hard currency from the Canadian dollar to the Euro and UK pound has risen at least 13 % against the US dollar since April 2009. The Japanese yen is not far behind, and the Brazilian real has risen 25% against the almighty US dollar. Even the Russian ruble has risen 13% against the US dollar.

What sort of recovery is it when the safest investment is to bet against the US dollar?

The American household of my day, in which the husband worked and the wife provided household services and raised the children, scarcely exists today. Most, if not all, members of a household have to work in order to pay the bills. However, the jobs are disappearing, even the part-time ones.

If measured according to the methodology used when I was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, the unemployment rate today in the US is above 20%. Moreover, there is no obvious way of reducing it. There are no factories, with work forces temporarily laid off by high interest rates, waiting for a lower interest rate policy to call their workforces back into production.

The work has been moved abroad. In the bygone days of American prosperity, CEOs were inculcated with the view that they had equal responsibilities to customers, employees, and shareholders. This view has been exterminated. Pushed by Wall Street and the threat of takeovers promising “enhanced shareholder value,” and incentivized by “performance pay,” CEOs use every means to substitute cheaper foreign employees for Americans [How Well-Educated, Hard-Working Americans are Treated in America, By Rennie Sawade, WashTech News, September 14, 2009 ]. Despite 20% unemployment andcum laude engineering graduates who cannot find jobs or even job interviews, Congress continues to support 65,000 annual H-1B work visas for foreigners.

In the midst of the highest unemployment since the Great Depression what kind of a fool do you need to be to think that there is a shortage of qualified US workers?

The United States will urge world leaders this week to launch a new push in November to rebalance the world economy, but there are doubts national governments will bow to external advice.

A document outlining the U.S. position ahead of the September 24-25 Group of 20 summit in Pittsburgh said exporters, which include China, Germany and Japan, should consume more, while debtors like the United States ought to boost savings.

“The world will face anemic growth if adjustments in one part of the global economy are not matched by offsetting adjustments in other parts,” said the document, which was obtained by Reuters on Monday.

The framework drafted by U.S. policy makers foresaw analysis of G20 members’ economic policies by the International Monetary Fund to figure out if they were consistent with better balanced growth.

“We call on our finance ministers to launch the new framework by November,” the document said, signaling a determined effort to maintain momentum for change created by last year’s global financial crisis.

The United States envisages the IMF playing a central role in a process of “mutual assessment” by making policy recommendations to the G20 every six months.

Finance ministers and central bankers from the G20 countries are due to meet November 7-8 in Scotland.

European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said persuading Europe, the United States and China to accept IMF advice on economic policy may be difficult. In the past, many countries have ignored suggestions the IMF dished out in regular reviews.

Trichet told French newspaper Le Monde the G20 had made progress on reforms to make the financial system more stable after the crisis.

“The most difficult question is still open: Europe, America, China, are they ready to modify their macroeconomic policies in the future — by following the advice of the IMF and under pressure from their peers, for the common good, and world economic stability?” he said in the piece on Monday.

G7 sources told Reuters there was a renewed determination to cooperate because the crisis had driven home the interconnected nature of the global system. That said, governments would not allow themselves to be told what to do.

“We can’t get to a situation where any country is giving up its own decision-making,” said one source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Germany, a major exporter to the United States, was singled out on Sunday by U.S. President Barack Obama as a country that, like China, exports a lot but does not buy much back.

But a top European Union official said that the euro zone, where 16 countries share a common currency, had to act as a collective.

“It is difficult to think about one country without taking into consideration what is the impact in the euro area,” European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso told reporters in New York.

Taxpayer money to the tune of $5 trillion has been pumped into the world economy to keep it from seizing up since the beginning of the crisis last September.

G20 leaders will maintain that pace of stimulus while acknowledging that at some point it will have to be wound down, the document said.

But, mindful of how a disorderly rush to raise interest rates could roil world markets again, they will also ask finance ministers to thrash out a “transparent and credible” exit strategy.

There were no details of how to achieve this in practice, but the document echoed the caution of G20 finance ministers at their meeting in London earlier this month acknowledging the pace of change would vary by country.

Simon Johnson, a former chief economist at the IMF, warned there was a risk the Pittsburgh summit would be an empty public relations exercise.

“The point of the meetings is to try to reassure themselves and everyone else that they’re broadly on track and have a round of applause and some back patting,” he said.

But John Bruton, the EU ambassador to Washington, said it was important not to ignore the summit’s symbolic power.

“I think we’re seeing the beginning of a conversation between world leaders,” he told Reuters in an interview.

An implantable chip could allow you to charge purchases or even start your car. It’d be convenient, to be sure. But would it be too creepy?

It’s a simple concept, really: You inject a miniature radio frequency identifier the size of a grain of rice between your thumb and forefinger and, with a wave of your hand, unlock doors, turn on lights, start your car or pay for your drinks at an ultrachic nightspot.

The problem is, the whole concept is a little geeky for most of us, nauseating for some, Orwellian for a few and even apocalyptic for a smattering of religious fundamentalists.

Forget the science of it — and yes, it does work remarkably well. Forget the convenience of it. Forget that similar identifying technologies, from bar codes to mag stripes, overcame similar obstacles and are now ubiquitous.

Radio frequency ID implants face a hurdle the others did not: ickiness.

“There is sort of an icky quality to implanting something,” says Rome Jette, the vice president for smart cards at Versatile Card Technology, a Downers Grove, Ill., card manufacturer that ships 1.5 billion cards worldwide a year.

How RFID devices work

The RFID technology is un-yucky, however. The implanted tag — a passive RFID device consisting of a miniature antenna and chip containing a 16-digit identification number — is scanned by an RFID reader. Once verified, the number is used to unlock a database file, be it a medical record or payment information. Depending upon the application, a reader may verify tags at a distance of 4 inches up to about 30 feet.

The RFID implant has been around for more than 20 years. In its earliest iteration, it provided a convenient way to keep track of dogs, cats and prized racehorses. Few took note or voiced much concern.

Then, in 2002, Applied Digital Solutions (now Digital Angel) of Delray Beach, Fla., deployed to its foreign distributors a beta version of its patented VeriChip technology for human use. Two years later, the VeriChip became the first subcutaneous RFID chip to receive FDA approval as a Class 2 medical device.

One VeriChip distributor in Spain sold the concept to the ultratrendy Baja Beach Club, which offered its patrons in Barcelona and Amsterdam the option of having an implant inserted in their upper arms to pay for their drinks without having to carry wallets in their swimsuits.

Judging by the ensuing outrage, you would think VeriChip had given the pope a wedgie.

‘Mark of the beast’?

Web sites sprouted like mushrooms, accusing VeriChip of being the biblical “mark of the beast” predicted in the Book of Revelations as a foreshadowing of the end of the world.

What began on the border in 2005 has spread to DC and every state in the union. The Revolution isn’t coming, it is here. Call it the Constitution Revolution. The genie is out of the bottle and there will be no putting her back in.

I spent all day yesterday up and down Pennsylvania Avenue with people from all over the Union.  One guy I met had 45 autographs on his t-shirt from people from 45 states. He only needed 5 more to make it a day.

The mainstream media has reported the rally as anti-Obama or anti-government, both are partially true, but I believe that pro-Constitution would be much more accurate. Pro-Constitution and polite.  This was more than a peaceful demonstration. I never heard so many excuse mes and thankyous in my life, and not a drop of litter to be found.

There was some anger yesterday, there was a lot of frustration, but mostly there was a multitude of Americans determined to have their voices heard. I am talking about people of all colors. I am talking about people with long hair, short hair, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, conservatives, cops, teachers,college students, grandmas, grandpas, great grandmas, moms, dads and kids.

The frustration demonstrated yesterday has been building for longer than nine months. What do the people want? They want the Federal Government to listen to the will of the people. They want the Federal Government to stick to the Constitution. They want the Federal Government to Keep the Czars in Russia.

When I filmed “Border,” I was afraid that the greatest threat to the future of our country was apathy. Those fears were completely swept away by what I experienced yesterday. But the fresh new hope that surged through all of us was tempered by the MSM media reports that we began hearing as soon as we left the Capitol.

I was hit with a nauseating wave of déjà vu. I had a flashback to when I was in Honduras, when a couple hundred Marxist revolutionaries and pro-Zelaya supporters demonstrated and the next day it was on the front page of newspapers around the world. But put one hundred thousand Constitutionalists in the streets of Tegucigalpa and it won’t make U.S. news at eleven.

When we first arrived at yesterday’s demonstration, CNN was reporting  that 30,000 people were expected. By the afternoon FOX news was reporting 60,000. The Saturday evening newscasts all said that “thousands” of people had turned out. Later they updated to “tens of thousands.”

At the rally, at noon on Saturday, we began hearing that DC police estimates were 1.2 million. I could not confirm that with any of the DC police officers that I spoke with. However, I did speak with a retired NYPD Sergeant towards the end of the day, he had a significant background in crowd control, including the evacuation of Manhattan on 9/11. This Sergeant put the number between 1.4 and 1.6 million.

The London Daily Mail would later put the number at 2 million. For the better part of two hours we saw Pennsylvania Avenue packed with humanity walking towards the Capitol Building. For the longest time it seemed like an unending river of humanity.  Fourteen blocks of streaming individuals!!

I ducked under police tape blocks away from the Capitol Building. Police officers immediately stopped me. I told them that I was press. The officers said that they didn’t care. I was told, “Get back. The venue is full.” They wouldn’t guess at how large the crowds were, but it was clear that they were stunned by the size of the turnout.

Where I stood, thousands of people were being turned back. I had to go around the demonstration to make my way closer to the steps of the Capitol.

I don’t know how many people were there. Maybe satellite photos will later give us an accurate count, but I would estimate that 90 percent of the demonstrators never even saw the event stage. Possibly 50 percent of the crowd never even got close enough to the remote speakers to hear what was being said.

No one cared. They didn’t come to hear the VIP speakers, they came to be with other Americans. They came because this is their house.

I couldn’t help but wonder what President Obama was thinking as he flew over us in Marine One on his way to Minnesota.

As I looked out down from the balcony of a twelfth story Pennsylvania Avenue  apartment, our host told me that in all of her decades in DC, she had never seen anything like this.

Either the entire corps of the Mainstream Media are entirely incompetent or they are complicit in propaganda of the greatest proportions.  Do not be fooled.

Robert Gibbs said on Friday that the White House was unaware of the rally… he didn’t know who this group was.

Mr. Gibbs, this is not a group. These are the American people, and they came here to remind you that you work for them.

All day long, I saw people pushing strollers. I saw people on crutches and in wheelchairs. But the image that will stick with me the longest was when I saw an elderly woman, possibly near 80 years old, lying in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue. She was seizing very badly. She had walked almost a mile in the DC heat, but her body just couldn’t take it. Her elderly sister looked on as the paramedics worked on her. I don’t know if she made it, but she was a patriot.

I will put her courage and commitment up against the arrogance of the political elite any day.

There is nothing stronger on this planet than the united will of the American people. Yesterday this nation turned a corner. The American people have awakened, and they want their country back.
