Congressman says Federal Govt has spent $1.1 Million dollars per job creation in Calif. District
In a speech titled “Stimulating Government” given November 19th on the House floor, McClintock said “The unfolding scandal of phony or inflated job claims from the so-called stimulus bill should shock the conscience of the nation and permanently stain the reputation of the 111th Congress and this president”.
McClintock, who ran for California governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2003 recall election and was the only mainline Republican candidate to not drop out and concede to the socialist moviestar, continued , “As of this morning, the administration claims that in my 4th Congressional District of California, the brain trust at the Treasury Department has spent $182 million to save or create all of 168 jobs. That’s $1.1 million per job!”
He went on to point out that nearly three quarters of the jobs allegedly created in California were in zip code, 95814, which McClintock points out is “the zip code that encompasses the state capitol and the state bureaucracies”.
McClintock, who went on to endorse Schwarzenegger for re-election in 2006 despite the governor’s anti-gun legislation, told this writer during the 2008 presidential election that “I’m not sure if Ron Paul is presidential Timber”. McClintock endorsed Fred Thompson for president in 2008.
