Mom Arrested for Washing Kid’s Mouth With Soap
A Florida couple is behind bars for some old school discipline

A Palm Bay woman and her boyfriend were arrested Monday for child abuse after the couple went old school to punish their 8-year-old daughter for swearing.
They washed her mouth out with soap.
We don’t know about you, but we would petition President Obama and Congress to make it mandatory for every parent to carry a bar of Irish Spring in their back pockets with all the profanity kids use today.
Police claim Adriyanna Herdener and Wilfredo Rivera went too far by placing a bar of soap in the girl’s mouth and letting it stay for 10 minutes. Herdener did not intervene in the discipline.
The girl eventually vomited and Rivera took her to the local hospital, where hospital staff called police.
No one wants a child to be hurt or inhumanely punished, but parents’ discipline choices in this country have come down to calling Dr. Phil or hiding the joysticks to the Wii.
Next time your kid has a potty mouth, just give them some gum.

What is wrong with people (those who “turned in” the parents)
Can’t they see that what the “professionals” are doing to “correct” problems with kids is NOT working!
“Spare the rod, spoil the child”. We need to get back to what works! There are WAY too many “children” in detention facilities/prison because proper “punishment”/correction isn’t allowed.
Get back to basics and reduce crime/bad behavior.
Although I am in total agreement with the “spare the rod, and you will surely spoil the child” concept. I think you didn’t get all the information here. The child was forced to hold or chew the soap for 10 minutes and had an allergic reaction to it. Her lips, tongue and throat swelled and she was having trouble breathing. Rather than getting help, she was given cough syrup and sent to bed. She began vomiting and was forced to clean it up before they would take her to the hospital……… don’t you get it???? This could have easily killed her!!!! and they sent her to bed……. they went overboard with their punishment. They need to be punished! Does our government step in placed they don’t belong, yes they do and I wish they would take a huge step back, but in this case they were right to do what they did to remove the kids from harms way. The boy friend was wrong in his excessive punishment, but the mom is wrong for not stopping him, even if she is afraid of making him mad at her.
