Short-‘Sighted’: Bible Codes Found on Gun Sights
A U.S. military contractor’s decision to include Scripture references on gun sights has proved — short-“sighted.” To say the least.
It turns out that the owners of the weapon’s maker — Trijicon of Wixom, Mich. — are Christians. They apparently believed they were giving a witness to Christ by inscribing references to Bible verses on gun sights used by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Read about it here.
But their actions are the height of folly. At a time when Christians are being accused of seeking to rule an earthly kingdom, they’ve given ammunition to our critics.
Blowing away Muslims with “Jesus guns” isn’t the example our Savior gave us.
Don’t get me wrong. Wars can be necessary and just. But Trijicon’s actions are part of a troubling trend of Christian” dominionism.” It also includes the militant language being fired off by modern “apostles,” “prophets” and other “Kingdom Now” proponents — about establishing Christ’s kingdom on earth before He returns.
All of this is playing right into the hands of our enemies. They will, no doubt, use these dominionist teachings as an excuse to persecute us in the last days. True, they would persecute us anyways — because of Christ in us. But heaven forbid we do anything un-Christlike to egg them on.
Yet that’s exactly what some Christians — like the owners of Trijicon — have done.
