A former Vancouver police officer who pleaded guilty to incest with his sister was sentenced on Wednesday to a one-year conditional sentence, to be served in his home.
The veteran officer, who cannot be named, was arrested in August 2009 after his adult sister alleged he had non-consensual sex with her, after a drunken party. The officer, who later resigned, did not plead guilty to a charge of sexual assault that was alleged. Crown stayed the charge.
The officer was given two years’ probation, is ordered against taking drugs and alcohol and must remain in his home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The officer was banned from directly contacting his sister, and must submit a DNA sample to the national sex offender registry. The court heard a victim impact statement, that the sister’s family life has fallen apart since the crime.
