VIDEO: SWAT team confronts Young Americans for Liberty

Source: Jim Randleman – Young American for Liberty

I’m sitting in the back of the classroom on the final day of the YAL National Convention, and I couldn’t wait any longer to get this YouTube video out to you.

Yesterday, YAL Events Director, Trevor Leach, and our top youth activists demonstrated on the Washington, DC, National Mall to collect petitions in opposition of Obama’s government takeover of health-care.

It wasn’t long until a SWAT team in an armored truck threatened Trevor and our youth activists declaring, “There are two options. Disassemble and leave. Or y’all are going to jail.”

“You don’t have free speech,” the sergeant told Trevor.

Fortunately, our youth activists video taped the entire confrontation and stayed up all night to produce this video footage.

Be prepared to be shocked, appalled, and a little an gry at the actions of our public servants who swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

After you watch this video, please do me a favor. Click here and donate generously to support these youth activists and advance their continuous efforts.

It is important to me to get this video in your hands immediately. I’ll send a full update on the first-ever YAL National Convention later this week.

Let me say, this weekend has impacted these students in a very large way.

For liberty,

Jeff Frazee
Executive Director, YAL

Well, Sergeant Dillion is obviously not a supporter of the Constitution. I suggest you file a complaint against the PD for abuse of power and harassment by this officer. It should be easy to locate him by his badge number (I believe it’s 886) and his last name. I would write letters to the editor of all the local news outlets. If you can find out his first name I would report him to copwatch.com and get this on as many websites as you can to make him look like a total fool.

To file a compliant with the D.C. police department visit this link:

Anyone would like to call to show their disgust should do so:
    202 -727-3838 (Compliant) or 727-4218 (Chief-of-Police)

There are other numbers on this page.

I think we should go out of our way to make him look like the dips**t he is.

I’m not seeing the officers doing anything other than their jobs. Then again, I have to wonder what you are protesting. There is no “Obama government takeover of health care” there is talk of a public option which will compete with private insurers. Isn’t that what the free market is all about? Competition?

Personally I wish there was a takeover I want a single payor health care system as opposed to the non health care insurance that we seem to have.

    Marcia.

In a government regulated industry such as insurance, a public option is not a free market option. Those who make the rules can infact make it more difficult for private companies to compete, thus limiting choices in a free market. As you limit insurance companies – insurance costs will go up! That is simple supply and demand. The lows of economics to apply even if you choose to ignore them.

A free market will ultimately lead to reduction in health care cost. If you do not believe be. Than how can laser eye surgery prices go down in a market where most other medical procedures have gone up? The simple answer is that laser eye surgery is not covered and therefore is paid in directly by the patient. Free market forces actually drove the price down.

Marcia; I do not want to see people go with out medical help. But you want the Government to take on the function of charity. It can’t and in fact they are not as effective as Charities. In fact if you are so passionate about health care – donate to St Jude’s or other local hospitals. You money will directly help treat patients. none of your money will be wasted on paying for a 9 to 5, 3 day work week bureaucrat.

Marcia, believe in your fellow American – we are not that bad – we can take care of out neighbor without government telling us to do so.

PS- You are right – the officers are doing their job – they have to enforce the law even stupid laws.

It’s incredible that this happened to the students for simple free speech. Students need more opportunities to learn how to promote liberty and defend their rights from situations like this. This fall, Students For Liberty (www.StudentsForLiberty.org) will be holding 7 Regional Conferences around the U.S. for just that purpose: teaching students about liberty and helping empower them to become leaders of liberty. Check it out at http://www.PoliticalConferences.org.

    to marcia:

government is NOT meant to compete with private business. I have no idea where you got that from. our governments are almost one in the same as business now, however, so I forgive your ignorance.

you would love single payer insurance, but that’s because you’re lazy.
there was no health insurance before the “heatlh industry” which was created by health insurance companies to squeeze out the christian charitable hospitals which existed all over the country. that’s why most hospitals are named after catholic saints and protestant figures.

you don’t want single payer, government insurance-TRUST ME. when you beg for health insurance from a government, they will give you the health coverage they want, and you get what you get–no choice.

the health crisis in this country was caused by the health insurance industry, yet you want to give them ultimate control by handing the decision over to the government?

To kid at the end of the vid asking if the military vehicle shouldn’t be in Iraq: If you love your country and the constitution so much, YOU should be in Iraq. You prissy, fat, spoiled, frat boys should serve a couple of tours over there. THEN you’ll have a little bit of credibility.
