How to add members to a WhatsApp group
WhatsApp is one of the most beloved instant messaging apps in the world and has an excellent group chat feature. From discussing movie or dinner plans with friends to managing all conversations at once, WhatsApp groups provide an effective way to keep all communications under one umbrella.
Existing WhatsApp users can add members to a group by opening it and selecting More > Group info > Add participants or Invite via link. This will open a list of your contacts that you can select to join your group, and it will let you decide whether you want your group open to anyone on WhatsApp or whether it requires admin approval before adding new members.
Remove a member from a WhatsApp group by tapping their name inside it and selecting “Remove”; this will send them a notification that their membership in this group has ended. You can archive a group chat to hide its messages from view; this does not delete them or limit your ability to access them in the future.
Add new members to an existing WhatsApp group quickly and effortlessly if you are its creator or admin. Simply tap it, select More options > Group info, then add new members by tapping. If you wish, you can also upload a photo, enter information about the topic, and enable disappearing messages.
If you are added to WhatsApp groups you do not want to join, do not despair: there is a solution. Simply open the group you do not want to be part of and tap the three vertical dots in the top section. Select the three-dot menu again and then “Block admin”; this will prevent that admin from adding you to more groups in the future.
How to delete a WhatsApp group
As part of administrative or privacy decisions, you may need to delete a WhatsApp group. As a member, you can leave at any time; only admins have the power to permanently delete group chats. To delete one permanently: open the group chat, tap or swipe to its top bar (on an iPhone), select Exit group, and then Confirm.
As soon as you leave a group, a message will appear at the top of the screen notifying you that you no longer participate and that you will not receive any new messages; however, other participants can still read previous chats and view them until they are permanently deleted from their list.
As an admin, you can also delete a group from its group info page by tapping its name and choosing “Delete group” at the bottom of the menu. When prompted, you will be given the option to delete all chats and media associated with that group or only with yourself, as well as the option to archive these items so they can be accessed again in the future.
To delete group chats and media only for yourself, go to the Groups section in the app. Select the group in question by tapping its name, tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, choose the Mute notifications option from the drop-down list, and then tap “Mute all.” This will stop notifications from that group, but it will not delete or alter your membership or influence other members in any way.
To completely delete a group chat, open it and tap its name at the top of the screen, then tap More > Delete group and proceed when prompted with the options to delete group chats and media for you or for all members. At that point you have two choices: save them for future reference or delete them permanently to free up space on your device.
How to create a community on WhatsApp
WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform, recently introduced a new community feature designed to simplify group communication. Users can now easily form and manage several groups within a community, while group admins can also set a group name and icon. It is available on both Android and iOS devices.
To create a group, open the app and go to the Chats tab.
